Does Animal Crossing, Bust A Move, and Mario Kart use the stylus for play. I feel like that thing might be too much of a pain.

Does the DS also play GBA games on it?

I have a PSP also, and I just love that system for what it could do.
    DS does play GBA games.

Mario Kart doesn't use the stylus at all really.

I'm picking up Bust a Move today, so I can tell you that later. Haven't got Animal Crossing yet, but I can't imagine it uses it much. The sylus is actually pretty cool to use now, so is the mic.

So why did you guys choose or are about to choose the DS over the PSP?

For me, it was simple. DS was more fun. PSP was ports and had long load times. PSP is a great system, but the DS just had the fun games that I could turn the system on and be playing 20 seconds later. I guess for me, Nintendo just owns the handheld market, they know how to do it.

The DS has better games and it is cheaper. No matter how great the PSP may be, I can't bring myself to spend 250 on a handheld (and its actually more like 300 once you factor in a game and such). If they drop the bundle to 200 I'll be interested but right now I chose the DS and I'm content.

The DS offers a lot of games that I want to play that aren't available on a console, that's the reason I want it over the PSP.

PSP is just cut down versions of most xbox and ps2 games. Impressive graphics for handheld but meh... prefer the original games, ideas and control of the DS. And the price and reliability.

I've decided on the DS for my almost 10 year old niece, but would like to know if Animal Crossing would be a good game for a 10 year old girl. Is there a lot of replay value with Nintendogs? Do a lot of DS games feature wireless multiplayer? How many of them only require one game for multiple systems?

                  Nintendogs is endless replay.

3 DS games have wireless internet now (Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and Tony Hawk) But many have wirless among other DS' and most only require one game card for up to 5 or 6 DS'.

Does it take long to initially charge the battery? If so I might take the system out of the box and charge it up.

I played a few weeks on the out of the box charge.

About 4 hours for a full charge according to the manual. BTW, meteos is freakin awesome, and so is mario kart.

I took it out of the box and charged it-took about 5 hours. Read the IGN review (they gave it a 9)of Meteos and saw some of the screen shots and it certainly does look awesome. She'll have to settlt for the 3 games I got for her because I decided to give her the FLY pentop computer too.

I think that after XMAS when I get caught up on some bills, I'm going to pickup a DS. My wife would love Animal Crossing on the DS and I want to checkout Nintendogs.

IGN gave the DS version an 8.4, but 889 voters gave it a 9.5, which I find incredible.

My mistake-that's Gamespot's reader reviews NOT IGN.
