I have a 360 and I will buy a PS3.

With that said, PS2 was my system of choice last generation until I played NFL2k5 & NCAA 06 on the XBOX. You see I avoided sports games on the XBOX because of the controller. Once I got over that hurdle the XBOX became my system of choice.
As much as I am looking forward to play a next gen Socom or MGS, I am just as excited about Elder Scrolls and Gears of War.

I hate to say it but, Sony is in real trouble. Its only a matter of time before former Sony apologists as myself jump onto the XBOX bandwagon. Superior Xbox Live service,(Market place is awesome) is the one thing Sony has no answer for.

Where is there any proof the PS3 is coming with a HDD installed? Everything I've read said it won't be in the system, and they are using memory cards again.

Sony said that the HDD will come seperate.

Yeah cept this time it's the original plan. For PS2, not many developers support HDD since it was late coming out.

Hopefully there is a good bundle that lets you cop the HDD for like 50 bucks or somethin. An extra $100 will hurt.

If the HDD allowed for ripping music and playing it during games, I'd cop it. It has to be double what it was current-gen though cause the 20 GB just don't cut it on the real. If they throw in a game too, it better not be no weak bull like that Final Fantasy 11 was. That was the biggest waste of my money EVER!! I'm still pissed everytime I see that stupid game.

An extra $50 plus 400-500 for the console then 60-80 bucks for an extra controller (bluetooth) and then 60-80 for 1 game. Forget that I think sony better cut corners somewhere b/c this system is going to be at least 600-800 bucks with one game and one controller. I would hate to see how e-bay is going to be. I think I will just wait.

I don't make much for comments on OS.com much, but lately i'm getting annoyed with everyone saying "the 360 sucks. Wait till the PS3."

I found all that annoying too until my 360 starting acting up. I called Microsoft last night and they were sending me a box so I could ship my 360 to them. The lady said they would send it overnight and that I would get it Tuesday (yes, you see, I have to get processed, their shipping company doesn't deliver on weekends...blah, blah, blah, blah). Somehow overnight became a 4 and a half to 5 day proposition. Lastest news-my 360 is working again. Hopefully I'll figure out the cause of my problem.

If the HDD is not available immediately or comes standard, Sony will be in trouble. The mandatory peripheral thing is ridiculous. Microsoft is already correcting the problem, since nearly all of the systems that stores are getting are the Premium pack (I guess they made enough extra cash off of the Core's).

And to address the talk of exclusive franchises, that's what makes gaming GREAT! I wil buy PS3 because of Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. My Xbox 360 will take care of the shooting fix w/ Halo and the great looking Gears of War, and I'll pick up a cheap Revolution because of Mario and Zelda (which probably got ALL of us into gaming in the first place).

I don't really care for online, and am waiting for my network adapter so that I can hook up my 360 and peep online gaming for the first time (other then some PC stuff in college). I've been resistant due to the massive amounts of cheesers, but hopefully I can find some fair opponents through OS.

And backwards compatibility is a great feature, and am glad that all the systems support it. Granted PS3 is the most universal (and I'm hoping that they will upconvert the older games to 720p like the 360 does), but think of the Revolution downloadables and GC compatibility! And the only game in my collection for Xbox that isn't backwards compatible is Battlefront II, which I'm sure will be added shortly (I've already traded in my sports games). I have my little "museum" of current gen fave games that I will allow my son to start off on in a couple of years. It will be a bonding experience (I will also try "old school" NES and SNES but I don't think it will work so well).

I just hate all this fanboyism. It poisons the gaming culture and the debate over whether gaming is a youthful deviant pasttime or if it's art and a valid form of entertainment. Hell, if more gamers would broaden their horizons outside of "fanboy vision" and try some REAL innovative games like Shadow of the Colussus and Katamari Damacy, gaming across all systems would be MUCH improved, graphical prowess be damned.

I just wonder with all this nex-gen drive talk like blu-ray or hd-dvd. Since these will require a connection like HDMI and knowing that the vast majority of people do not have tv's with HDMI connections, how will this all work? Will that mean the majority of people will not be able to use PS3 because of blu-ray?

Also, first 360 dev kits went out to first party developers in January of 2004. Third party developers got kits some months later. Not sure where you're getting this 9 months from.

If Sony does launch in the spring, developers would've had less time with a PS3 dev kit then developers had with a 360 kit (for launch titles). Microsoft decided to get the platform out to developers early, while Sony waited to start development of PS3 games until they could offer more mature hardware (in other words hardware much closer to final). Both have advantages and disadvantages. The hardware in the first 360 dev kits was a far cry to what is in the final kits. QUOTE]

As Candyman can attest too, there are some new comments of "wait till the PS3, it'll be better." Like in the baseball game threads. The madden threads.

I remember reading articles from various developers saying that granted they had the Beta kits from MS that they didn't have any of the firm numbers or what was close to final until early 2005. Which is why it was hard to get things either scaled up or scaled down to fit the system specs.

I'm sure the PS3 is going to be a mixed bag on launch day. MGS4 will look quite nice, since it always looks great.

As much as it would be nice to not have a bad system launch, it's going to happen for Sony. They won't have enough systems to meet the demand. MS could have probably sold out 2 million units in the USA easily if they had the supply. Oh well. I highly doubt Sony will be shipping out more than 500,000 to 1 million units in the first week here in the USA.

EA said Fight Night 3 on PS3 will be better than 360 version. They said it'll be like Fight Night 4. Which is why people may think that the PS3 version of madden and baseball game will be better.

My little prediction is that Sony WILL well on launch day here in the US. Since many people that want a 360 can't get it til around January, that's the time Sony will release PS3 information. Then people will start to wait for PS3 since it's only a few months away.
