Maybe they do have heavy hitters to drop when the PS3 comes out to distract away from Sony. It was just a thought and idea. Think about it though, maybe they're putting their apples where they're more wanted. Then come next year, they'll drop those titles that will get Japan more interested. Could be all apart of the plan.....

if it was microsoft's plan to NOT have enough consoles for the people in their home country, then send tons of consoles to japan with a launch list that has the japaneese turning the nose to the system, and then to wait and make everything "right" when the ps3 comes out, then i would say that microsoft needs to find a new board of directors and especially fire peter moore head of marketing for such a mess.

I don't believe it was microsoft's plan for this to happen, but if so then they have more problems than just the 360 mess

I'm pretty comfortable saying that a pre-E3 release (in May) would be unlikely.
Anytime after that is fair game, though.

But even if they release next December, they'll still beat HD-DVD to the punch in terms of a wide release.
That's the goal - and Sony has all year to figure out the "when".

        BTW - Great sig.

I believe that the ps3 will launch sometime in May

The word 'exclusive' is VERY misleading. I can tell you for a FACT the PS3 will get a version of these games. Allthough PS3 consumers may have to wait they will eventually get one. It may not be the SAME version 360 gets but PS3 will get a version of it.

Everyone thought DOA on xbx was great and it would NEVER be on another system. Well guess what... the PS2 got not one but 2 versions of DOA and so will the PS3. This means Japanese gamers don`t exactly have to buy the 360 to play DOA, they can wait for the PS3.

The release of DOA in Japan will not do anything to help the sells in Japan.

Yeah, I would say they have a little better of a clue this time around.

I know the launch lineup is pretty bad, but the 360 has much much more Japanese dev support than the Xbox had. Microsoft has drawn the attention of some Japanese developers that only flirted with the Xbox, and they're now making bigger commitments to the 360.

The Xbox only had what, 4 JRPG's? And they were pretty crappy, except for Phantasy Star Online, but everybody had already played that game on the Dreamcast :y4:. The 360 already has 8 in development right now, with 5 releasing in 2006 (FF XI, Enchant Arm, Far East Of Eden Ziria, Lost Odyssey, and Blue Dragon). One of the weakest aspects of the Xbox’s library was the lack of a good Japanese RPG. This looks to change with the 360.

Microsoft has alot of games coming down the pipe that cater torwards Japanese gamers (much more than the ever Xbox had), so it'll be interesting to see how the 360 fairs.

The PS2 only got DOA 2: Hardcore, and that was before the Xbox was even out. So, why didn't DOA 3 or DOA U come to the PS2? Oh yeah, because Tecmo said they were exclusive to the Xbox platform.

DOA 4 will not be on the PS3, and you can quote me on that.

I think that it will take more than DOA to help out the situation in Japan. They need a good RPG to play.

I still think that once the ps3 is announced as far as launch date and price, that market for 360's in Japan will become lower than a snake's belly

There are three rpg's coming from mistwaker alone, I don't think that japanese rpgs will be a problem.

Re: Microsoft boss attacks sony's ps3

Japanese adoption of the Xbox 360 is important to Microsoft, but I think we're focusing too much on it.
Quite frankly, Microsoft doesn't need it to be profitable - and there was never any illusion that they'd be anything but third in Japan behind Sony and Nintendo - Japanese corporations.
It's not really the core issue.

The Japanese marketplace is famously insular, and native companies have always been better received than those from anywhere else.
The initial "failure" of Xbox 360 - though I think saying that is still premature, as Microsoft's definition of Japanese success is far different than what the mass media seems to think it is - was expected all along.

Blowing the Christmas release in the US was their biggest mis-step. But Sony did the exact same thing - and it was actually even worse here - with the PS2's release. There's 30 million PS2's being played arond the world today, but to hear the critic of the time, the overrated PS2 was doomed to failure. Oops. Spoke to soon.

It's far too early to jump to any conclusions about the Xbox 360 or next-gen as a whole - the only fair one to draw is that Microsoft dramatically overestimated their ability to produce enough units in time for the holidays.

That's damning enough - but the next generation's only a month old.
It's simply far too early to pass judgment on anything at this point.

Theirs about 50,000 360`s sitting on the shelves in Japan instead of in the hands of western consumers that would have bought it.
When your launch lineup consists of hi-def Tetris ... no gamer in the world will flock to buy the console.

MS better prays that DOA4 will boost their console sales in Japan.
