Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
If you're concerned, don't buy it. Nothing any of us here could say to you to get you to overlook your fears about it. It IS your money....Originally posted by jjoeWith all the problems at launch, I'm wondering if it is now safe to get one. The local Toys R. Us said they have 2 that just arrived. I'm a little concerned with the launch problems, though. -
Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
I'd wait for 2 reasons:
1. The problems at launch like you said
&
2. Most "new" games are still being released for the PS2/X Box(That's if you like sports, like AFL 2006 & NCAA MVP etc.)Colorado Avalanche (NHL)
Denver Nuggets (NBA)
Green Bay Packers (NFL)
Iowa Hawkeyes (NCAA)
Minnesota Twins (MLB)
Tennessee Volunteers (NCAA)Comment

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
You prolly will get a good unit and if you don't just send it to Microsoft.
Even if there are only a few games out now, you still plan on copping one sooner or later. Might as well get it now
Xbox 360 GamertagRAW 910
Philadelphia Eagles

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
My bud got one today from best buy, and i can you two differences i noticed right out of the box compared to my lanuch unit.
1) they now have a sticker on the dvd drive that warns "Do not move console while disc is playing"
2) There is now a big white sticker on the component cable where you switch it from HD to SD.
Those were not there on the launch consoles.
Also, they are no longer packaging the remote with prem, so you wont be getting that.
as for as hardware differences, i doubt they are much different than launch units.
I can tell you that my bud's unit was manufactured 1-13-06, so thats a pretty quick turnaround in terms of getting it to the store shelf.Last edited by dagger55; 01-23-2006, 07:07 PM.Comment

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
Originally posted by RodsterI bought mine at launch and has been flawless. Like Fishepa said you have a small chance less than 3% of getting a bad one. I also think Microsoft's engineers have figured out what's been causing the failures. So go for it !
Thanks, everyone. You sure put everything in perspective with 3% problem units. When i read through the problem thread above, I got the feeling maybe 40% of the units had problems. Plus, I remember the first xbox had a problem with the Thompson drives, which were later replaced. Don't know how much improvements will come down the road.Comment

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
I thought that only the machines the were manufactured before a certain date, so even about half of the launch units should have had no problems. All the ones now should be fine.Comment
