I haven't had any problems with mine, and I got it two weeks ago. I don't play it too much (hour a day) cause of work, but I'll check the manufacturing date anyway...

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
Het JJoe just a side note. Just treat the 360 like it's a high powered ultra expensive Power Mac that you just spent $5k on the beast. Because that's what the Xbox 360 really is a high powered Mac !Originally posted by jjoeThanks, everyone. You sure put everything in perspective with 3% problem units. When i read through the problem thread above, I got the feeling maybe 40% of the units had problems. Plus, I remember the first xbox had a problem with the Thompson drives, which were later replaced. Don't know how much improvements will come down the road.
Plug the 360 into a UPS Backup or a good surge protector. I lay mine flat just to avoid tip overs. Make sure it has good airflow and you should be set. Mine always runs warm and i've never had a problem no lockups as well. Basically follow good common sense and you'll be fine.Comment

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
I thought mine was messed up. In fact I even had a shipping box mailed to me. The unit froze and a 3/4 red light indicator appeared on the big power button on the front of the console. It seems to happen once every 10-14 days (????) and only when using COD2. To correct the problem I turn the console ON and OFF once or twice with the controller. If that doesn't work I snap the hard drive out with the console OFF, and then snap it in again.Comment

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
Exact same for me, manufacture date of september and I think mine has only locked up once in the dashboard.Originally posted by Drag66I have had mine since launch and zero problems. My manufacture date is like September of '05 so I don't know whether the manufacture date means anything.PS4: aBayBates

Thanks again Rodster. Will you also be getting the PS3? Why or why not?Originally posted by RodsterHet JJoe just a side note. Just treat the 360 like it's a high powered ultra expensive Power Mac that you just spent $5k on the beast. Because that's what the Xbox 360 really is a high powered Mac !

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
Heck yeah! Once you see a 360 game on a high def screen there's no going back. IMO the difference is like the jump between PS1 to Dreamcast. So now that i'm spoiled and can't wait for Fight Night 3 (Xbox360) i've already made my decision to buy a PS3.Originally posted by jjoeThanks again Rodster. Will you also be getting the PS3? I just hope the price is no more than $500.Comment

Originally posted by dust247I'd wait for 2 reasons:
1. The problems at launch like you said
&
2. Most "new" games are still being released for the PS2/X Box(That's if you like sports, like AFL 2006 & NCAA MVP etc.)
How DARE you not include Rugby 06 & WE9!!!

Re: Is It Safe To Get a 360 Yet?
I think $500.00 is a safe bet. The PS3 will be better in terms of bang for your buck, and will likely have a much better release than MS had for their system. And with less technical issues.Originally posted by RodsterHeck yeah! Once you see a 360 game on a high def screen there's no going back. IMO the difference is like the jump between PS1 to Dreamcast.
