Or any company, big business or small stores? They all want the money. MS is getting money from Xbox Live subscriptions, Sony as of now actually playing online is free. OMG MS CARES ABOUT THE MONEY??????????Comment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
The bottom line is Sony dominates in Japan so the war is already over it doesn't matter what the others do or what people say because the people will wait for a PS3 no matter how long it takes to get one because the 360 in Japan is non existent and if you don't have Japan it's game over when trying to be number one overall. I think most people in North America will wait as well especially the majority that own a PS2 which is a hell of alot."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Also, nearly every poll and survey of Japanese gamers shows they are dissaponted by the PS3 pricing and, and more interested in the WII. MS struggles in Japan don't automatically equal a win for Sony...
edit: Flawless beat me to it.
Also, anyone who thinks Sony spent the time, effort and MONEY to develop technology just for sh!ts and giggles is being naive. Pre-ownned games are a huge staple of game retailer profits. The margin on a proenwed game is much better than on a new one, so I'm really curious as to how the retailers see this. Sony could potentially be taking a nice bite out of their bottom line. Not to mention the fact that this would seem to eliminate rentals...Last edited by HMcCoy; 09-10-2006, 06:16 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
I agree but not enough to do any real damage especially the Wii as the average gamer is 25 to 30 and higher. Personally I don't really care who is number one I just like games in general no matter what system they are on, just get what you like and have fun and don't let the media sway your decisions as they usually have an agenda anyway."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Personally, I wouldn't underestimate the Wii, either. I know it's not really considered next gen, but the price is hard to pass up. I don't care who is number 1, either. Just make a quality product with quality games.Comment

The DS lite, a far less pwerful unit which outsells the PSP...like 700 to 1 says hello.

Yep, I'm not swayed by the media, but I am swayed by family budgets. Once my accountant wife heard $700 for the PS3, she directed our energies to MS.

If you were to go by polls and surveys then why did Bush win the last Presidental Election. To me they are worthless and can be easily manipulated by whoever is doing them to make one side look more favourable from the other. As for the DS Lite that is Nintendo's area just like consoles are Sony's.
Lol...Good point, polls are pretty unreliable. I'd still bet that Sony's mindshare will be nowhere near what it is today, though. Nintendo will be a significant factor in Japan, and MS will continue to grow here. Problem for Sony is that they can't afford to NOT to totally dominate again...the front end expenses for the PS3 hardware development is gonna' be murder on a company already having financial problems.Last edited by HMcCoy; 09-09-2006, 03:45 PM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Playstation 3 Information, hardware, games discussion Part II
Xbox 360 is an expensive system also. The thing the MS did right was they offered a stripped down version, even the Premium is stripped down when you consider what the PS3 is shipping with. BluRay comes built in, whether you like it or not Sony wants you to have it so, if in the long run it is a big hit, you got one on your PS3. I bought the 360 though becuase I don't care for BluRay, Wifi, 60GB HD, right now. In the long run to get the 360 to do the same as the PS3 meaning HD-DVD and Wireless adaptor, and if they do come out with a bigger HD, will cost more then the PS3. I think the cost, to those who look at i t in the long run and do their research, is irrelevant. I do agree though most parents who buy their kids a system will get the 360 because of the price and not knowing the difference and what not.
I like that MS has given us options, SONY is forcing people into their features. Why? So when they sell MILLIONS of PS3's, they can turn around and say that they have MILLIONS more BluRay users out there. It's all a ploy to market the damn BluRay.
I'm happy with my 360, if a larger HDD releases at a affordable price I'll get it. Even the 20gb are fine so far since I delete demos to clear up the HDD. Would I like a PS3, yes I would, but I don't want to pay $600 at this time in the fall. If I can get my hands on one come this Fall, it's going straight to ebay to make some money.Comment

I wouldn't put it pass Sony 1 bit. Especially if Blu-Ray begins to fail...Comment
