Yeah, it could have been either, but since it was just showing one game and that it worked, not really big news IMO. It's news, but since the PS3 hasn't come out yet, we'll keep all the info tight and neat in here.

According to our ever so sexy counterparts, Kotaku, both versions of the Japanese PS3 will not be bundled with HDMI cables. Rather they will have the bare essential cables bundled. Those cables being a power cable, USB cable, Ethernet cable and composite cables. No, not component, just a single, little yellow composite cable for the revolutionary PS3 out-of-the-box graphics. – Travis Hudson

Moreso, it's the last thing critics need to hear after harshly opposing their price point. Sony really needs some new PR people...

The PS3 remote works through bluetooth only--no IR port.

I'm actually shocked they wouldn't at least include components. HDMI doesn't surpise me, Sony has never included those, very few companies ever do. If you have cable, there's an easy way to get an HDMI cable, just call and ask for a new box with HDMI, they should give you the cable, I have 3 of them just from doing that

It's looking bad for this PS3 launch. Talking to my buddy at Gamestop. The had 12 allotted to them, but from what he's heard, they are getting 4-6 systems. Best Buy is rumored to get 8-12 total. This could be very ugly, if you don't plan on camping, eBay is going to suck blood from the stone this holiday.

Exactly. I wonder if it is confirmed that no component cables are coming with the console. It is unbelievable that this much touted system by Sony will not be able to display any game in HD out of the box.

At IGN it states that the PS3 multi out interface will use the same cables that you used with the PS2 so if you already have component or s-video you should be able to reuse them. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/738/738409p1.html
