    Tell me about it.

The PS2 was a POS. Ever since I got an XBOX, the PS2 sat around collecting dust particles to create yet another reason for the already iminent DDE problems that plagued the system. Memory cards sucked cause being a sports gamer, you ran out of space way to often. Plenty of times you would forget to clear some space and cant save a game.

One thing that big for me, is the freaking load times. The PS2 sucked monkey nuts for being so slow. You play games like Smackdown or any EA game, and the loading could drive you ape ****.

Lastly, it was a unreliable POS. Everyone I know who owned a PS2 had one break on them. I have 2 PS2s at home now that just recently started giving me problems. They probably would work if I sat and kept trying to get a disc to readd but I dont wanna sit around and blow on the cartriges and wiggle the catriges around till I got something. Thats exactly what a PS2 reminds me off. A freaking Nintendo.

Anyways, I picked the XBox for obvious reasons. The limitless harddrive. The music ripper.(Loved this feature) Less loading times, much better graphics and the Left and Right triggers were great for Shooters. Whenever Sony gets over its love for Japanese RPGs and Platform games and stop making crappy unreliable hardware, they may win me back. I want a PS3 but if any of the problems from the PS2 are there, I'm reconsidering.

I had a long affair with the PS2. I got it at launch and only had it and the Gamecube until March of 04 when I got an XBox. My vote though goes to the XBox. It's graphics and controller where much better in my opinion. Once I got a large HDTV, I had to go to the XBox because the PS2 just wouldn't cut it anymore.

          Definately Xbox.

I came home from college my freshman year and w. my birthday money I was dead set on buying a PS2. A buddy of mine had rented an Xbox from Blockbuster and I went over to his house and played it for a while - I instantly saw how much better it was than PS2. Plus throw in the HD and it was over for me.

A few days later I went out and bought an Xbox along with World Series Baseball 2K3. I played the ever-living hell outta that game that year, one of my 'favs of last generation.

My vote is to the Xbox if you're not including the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast is the best, most revolutionary, most unique system I've ever played or owned, and I go back to the Atari 2600.

But the Xbox has been fantastic with Xbox Live and the hard drive. The software has been so-so. I don't think there have been enough great Xbox exclusives, especially with the death of XSN Sports titles, which showed so much promise. But the hardware has been excellent, much better than the competition.

            Take care,

I disagree. The Dreamcast was 128-bit, just like the PS2. It offered online gaming right out of the box, had four controller ports, etc.

The DC was the first console of this 128-bit generation.

Were the specs really that close? My memory is pretty foggy, but I can't remember any Dreamcast game that came close to even the first wave of PS2 titles graphically.
Soul Calibur KILLED any launch PS2 title graphically. In fact, Soul Calibur for the DC still stands up quite well to most PS2 games today.

I am at fault for not adding the Dreamcast here. I can't try to go back and edit the poll either.

Sorry guys, yes the Dreamcast was one of the best consoles ever to be released and it's life was cut way too short.

I'm an Xbox guy. When I finally had the money to buy one or the other, in December 2001, I went with the 'box because of Halo. I was itching for a good FPS title, since I had stopped trying to keep up with PC upgrades. I've been pleased Microsoft's game systems ever since.

Re: Favorite System from Last Gen

I think the first year or two xbox had a good run...then the software started to lag with some major disappointments(Halo 2, Fable, KOTOR 2)...Max Payne, Halo and the other "early bird" games were the best. The four year lifespan is unacceptable because we don't know how hard the system could be pushed if developers had more time with it. Some genres never got adequate support like RPG's and fighters.

The PS2 has to be overall the best. It has the most games you can't find anywhere else. Rez, Disgaea, VF4: Evo and other Japanese titles that are unique and captivating...a passable online interface(if you don't have XBL). It's rough around the edges, but it has the best overall bang for the buck.

I got to say the GC pretty much is identical to xbox...it had a slim release schedule but when a major title came out I put all the other games aside and finished it. After 2003 though I really don't think the system put much that I'll go back to..Resident Evil 4 the major exception of course. However games like SSBM, Ikaruga and F-zero GX(one of the best arcade racers ever done) will keep the thing in my possession. As far as disappointments Wind Waker let me down quite a bit.

Xbox - The console had better features and better games.
