Re: Datel XChange 360 Official FAQ Thread

Is anyone else using XPlorer and everything from 360gamesaves.com? I am using that and was able to get all the current saves I want from the site. However, how do you take a file, say NCAA 2007 when it is completed, and put it on your memory card using the 360gamesaves method? Was anyone successful in putting the FairdaleKings CB-ball roster file from this site directly on your memory card using the 360gamesaves method? It seems as though you have to have an exact file folder name for the game? How do you get that? Any help would be appreciated.

Nevermind. I think I got it. I just need to rent College Hoops to verify. Just trying to work out all the kinks so NCAA Football goes smooth.

The drivers messed up what I was doing so I just put the xplorer/gamesaves way on one computer and did the datel on the other computer. I don't quite understand the "title id" folder that is required in the xplorer way and it appears that this folder is not available immediately, something that would be a problem with the NCAA Football roster being ready. So, I just have both ways set up. The datel/operation sports way was ridiculously easier than the xplorer way. Since I have them on separate computers and I wasted tons of time on this, I have no interest in learning how to take an operationsports roster file and figure out how to transfer it using the xplorer way.

Since nobody explained the Xplorer 360, allow me to do so..

After everything is set up (changing the MU's drivers to be viewed as a disk drive, etc.), here is how to get a save onto a memory card with Xplorer 360:

                1) Open Xplorer 360, and then open Harddrive or Memory Card under DRIVE.

                2) Click on Partition 1. You should now see a folder named Content, and a name.txt file.

                3) Click the Content folder, and then expand it to show your PROFILE folder (a bunch of random numbers & letters).

4a) If the save you downloaded had the GAME ID folder with it, then right click the PROFILE folder, and click "Insert Folder". Find the folder with the save, hit OK. You're done.

4b) If the save is a stand-alone file, but you have a different save from the same game on your MU..just expand your PROFILE folder, and expand any remaining folders until you see a file in the right column pertaining to the game. For example, Tony Hawk's title ID is 415607D4. Expand that folder, click on the 0000001 folder, right click inside the folder, click on Insert File. Find the file, and hit open. You're done.

I haven't tested creating a new folder with a game's ID, and transferring that..but I will try it in the future.

NOTE: .z36 files do not work with Xplorer 360.

Whoa....I think I'll pick the transfer kit up now, so I can get the transfer process down pat. Don't want to be fumbling around when the NCAA rosters are released.

I think it is a smart move to get it done now. Do the datel/operation sports way first because that will give you access to the NCAA Football roster the fastest.

If the rosters are in transfer kit format and anyone wants them converted to Xplorer360 format, just let me know. I'll be glad to convert any files from one format to the other.

I'm well aware that this question is ********, but how exactly does one go about "unzipping" a file? I believe i comprehend all other instructions pertaining to the transferring of files with this device. But I would appreciate it if someone could give me a brief step-by-step of how this (unzipping) is done.

                        Thanks in advance

Have you downloaded a program that enables you to unzip? I use WinAce Archiver. Google it and it is free to download. Once you have a program downloaded, I then download a file I need to unzip (say Fairdales roster), then I right click on the file and highlight the option to "extract here." Then it is in the two files I need to put on the memory card using the datel way.

Hopefully I can get some help here.

I picked up the kit, installed it, and when I open up the software I can only click on the two left blades and the screen is all distorted (the "back-up" on the bottom right is partially gone, etc). I've installed, uninstalled, re-installed and the same thing happens. I can't click on the "Options" blade or nothing.

I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition and have never encountered a problem with any other program I've installed. Any help?

Also, what's the deal with the 360 Gamesaves site and the software there? Will it work with the Transfer Kit dongle? Is it more complex? And if I can get this working, where do I download the saves?

You open it up, create a backup on the main page of the software. Take your save that you downloaded, put it in the folder the software created in your documents, click on Hard Drive and click to MEM. Done.
