Holy Crap, where did you buy the system from? You know that you can take it back to the store and get another one right? Why send it away and have to wait. It's within the 30 days, they should exchange for you.

lol except for consoles. They have a book of all the serials of systems they sold. Trust me, I tried to take a PS2 back and I was denied.

Although I did score an intercooler from ebay today, just will have to wait for my system to come back to me.

wrong............... i bought my 360 at eb, it was crap, sent it back and forth to MS twice and then took it to walmart and exchanged it for a new 360

Yeah that's odd because the serial number gets scan at purchased. It's basically it's unique UPC number. That's how they tell if they sold it.

now i'm not that lucky lol

with the upc, i take games back to wally world all the time that i buy from eb and chances are they dont have the game in stock i take back they sacn the games upc and it rings up 50 bucks and they put it on a gift card for me

your wally world must be a tough one, the 2 in my area are a joke. the peeps working in electronics couldnt tell ya a 360 from a gameboy

but all in all its worth a shot on taking it back to your walmart. call ahead and talk to the electronics manager and tell them you bout it there etc on launch and you have a defective unit that was confirmed by MS. tell them you dont have reciept etc you always buy from walmart etc. just bs the guy/girl and i bet they hook ya up!!

Yeah. I'm going to customer service after work. I got some "inside" info from someone I work with who states that Walmart tracks all sony and nintendo consoles but can't track MS console numbers. I'll let ya know. If not I think I'm going to buy one from gamestop or somewhere that will actually take the defective one back and sell the refurb I get on ebay.

The UPC and the serial number are two different things. The UPC code is a unique ID for that product. The serial is the unique ID for that SYSTEM. If they check the serial then I am out of luck. But, from the info I have they don't check it so we'll see. I'll give an update on what happens tonight as an FYI..
