Nintendo Wii Information, hardware, games discussion

I figured to start a similar thread like the PS3 for the Nintendo Rev. since we don't have one. This way we could discuss everything Revolution related.

    Nintendo: Rev Games Under $50
In an interview with CNNMoney, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata spoke about Nintendo's position in the next generation market, and specifically about the company's forthcoming console, still-codenamed Revolution.

Even though I wouldn't think of using the Revolution as my primary gaming system with the wave of next gen consoles, I would definitely consider picking one up after the price drops a little when I decide between the 360 and PS3.

The thoughts of Goldeneye, Road Rash, Cruisin USA, Wayne Gretzky Hockey etc. All are classics from when I was attached by the hip to my N64.

Whatever new games that were worth a purchase would be a bonus for me regarding that system.

Studios give us the inside scoop on the clock rates for Broadway and Hollywood. How do the CPU and GPU stack up on paper?

This is interesting. Did you read the pricing earlier article earlier also?

Re: Nintendo Revolution Information, hardware, games discussion

Well there were news posts on game sites during the week that Rare games will NOT be on the virtual console. It has yet to be confirmed or denied from Nintendo but not having Goldeneye (apparantly as much to do with EA now, as Rare) and Perfect Dark will hurt.

Diddy Kong and Donkey Kong are safe though if the rumour is in fact true.

Also, on the Gamecube Zelda with Rev support...
HM-Fusion - What changes are you making that require a year of extra production?

Eiji Anouma - I cannot be too specific with game details, after all that would spoil the surprise of playing! But we are adding some extra elements that will excite gamers.

HM-Fusion - Like Revolution controller support?

Eiji Anouma - We will be utilising the Revolution hardware although not in a way many will expect.

HM-Fusion - I'd love a version of Ocarina's fishing game using the controller.

Eiji Anouma - That would be a fun game wouldn't it.

And judging by the specs of the console it is similar to the Gamecube in many ways and is about twice the power. So as many people have said... look at Resident Evil 4 and the new Zelda. They match or beat any graphics out there and even stand strong against many next gen games so having twice the power to work with is going to be fine.

Re: Nintendo Revolution Information, hardware, games discussion

I'm more excited for this console than the PS3 (and I guess the 360, even though its out). Though I don't know if excited is the right word. I won't committ to purchasing it until I see more and try it out for myself but it does sound fun. If the gameplay experience is as unique and entertaining as Nintendo wants us to believe, then I'd probably end up with a Revolution before a 360 or PS3, just because I want something thats a major departure from the current consoles, not just a visual upgrade.

Though I will re-state that I'm pissed about the Zelda delay. Delay the game if it needs more time in the shop because its buggy or something, not to add Revolution enhancements. I have a Gamecube and Zelda is a Gamecube game so release it when its done. The Gamecube hasn't seen a quality release since early last fall and it irritates me that Zelda probably could be available right now. Instead, they want a Zelda title for the Revolution's launch, even if its not a true Revolution game. Anyone who argues that Nintendo is any less of a coporate entity than Sony or Microsoft is kidding themselves, its always going to be about the dollar (or yen) first.

If the revolution is only going to be 2-3 more powerful then the gamecube how can nintendo justify a possible $299 price tag. We are paying for a gamecube with a memory upgrade and a new controller. If the Rev was between $99-$149 I would consider it. Until then I'll just stick with their handhelds.

                        MTV interview with Iwata

"Up until now, we've seen when there's a video game console in the home, there's people who play the video game console, but then there's a distinct wall," he said. "There's people in the house that don't play video games whatsoever. And when people see what we have to offer at E3, they're going to understand that that wall's been broken down and we now have created a system that's going to allow for a much, much larger user base than any system we've seen before."...

Really, how many companies have said that? Microsoft wants to get the "non-gamers", Sony wants to get the guys who buy all the latest technology, and Nintendo thinks that because they have a controller that you move around that somehow it's going to make people want to play games.
