If you're kinda tight on dollars, and a few hundred bucks is a lot to you, consider waiting until the price drops or the PS3 to come out so you can better judge which would be a better investment for ya.
Nah, having the money's not a huge issue. More just of an issue of me not being sure if I should spend the money. I've been playing less video games than I use to. Though, I really wanted Morrowind and I don't think my computer will handle it well. I picked it up. It will remain unopened and I'll sleep on it before deciding what to do. I've been at work 32 hours straight now, so sleeping instead of playing isn't going to be a problem.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095

I'll put my money down and say that the PS3 launch will be better. Sony has come out and said they are planning on developing 1 million units per month up until the launch.
Also, Kutaragi-san said they plan to produce 6 million units by the end of their fiscal year (March 2007), and that they plan to ship 1 million units a month.
November Worldwide Launch - 2 Million
December - 1 Million
January - 1 Million
Febuary - 1 Million
March - 1 Million
= 6 Million
It also isn't a sure thing Sony will be able to produce this amount. A lot of things can happen.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

no matter what Sony or MS said, it's obvious there will be shortages. the problem is that there are to many people buying the systems to put them on EBay. If everyone that really wanted one got one, you'd still have shortages, but with a lot less people complaining..... then again, it is people.
Sony might have more systems than 300k like last time, but even at 1 million units, they won't have enough for the demand.
It's not like they've even started production yet. They are still testing out the hardware and casing since last i read there was overheating issues, much like the one MS was/is dealing with on the 360.
MS has gone through 2.3 million units in 4 months. they can't produce them fast enough. Sony, no matter how good they are (or aren't) won't be able to meet their demand either.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Casey,
When you get up and read all this....
Just Open the system and enjoy it.
Worst comes to worst you sell it on ebay for 100 bucks more than you paid for it. That's the WORST that happens.
The best thing that happens is you'll play it and like it.
Now if you want too think about it still.... maybe this might make some light.
The PS3 is still 7 months away and we still don't have an idea how much it's going to cost.... rumors put it at 450-600 for the sytem alone... then no idea on the price for the required hard drive to play games.... Sony did say they can't sell the unit its self for under 450.
if you're only going to be a light gamer
Then the debate... (Throw out the fanboyisms)
360 + Hard Drive = 400 (a system that's now starting to shine a little bit)
PS3 + Hard Drive = 450 + $$$ for the Hard Drive $500+.
If you go with both systems being basically equal, then what matters too you.
360 = XBox Live (face it, it's better than Free PS2 and what sony is proposing for the the free PS3 online - letting all the developers/publishers be 100% responsible still has more cons than pluses.)
PS3 = 95% backwards compatibilty (P1-P2), region free games
There's no way to debate graphics right now
How many game play clips did you see from all the game companies before the PS2 Launched.... before the dreamcast Launched.... before the Xbox launched.... before the 360 launched... historicall,y VERY LITTLE. MS was one of the few companies to actually try and have something playable at E3 for a new system and they got reamed for it.
Sony thus far has shown amazing movies that, surprise surprise, turned out to be "TARGET' renditons. These are the same peolpe that said the PS2 would have the grahpics of Toy Story 2 (never happened). Lets wait until November too have the so and so system is better debate.
My pesronal advice...
I know the Sony Advocates will hate to hear it, but WAIT on a PS3.that system will have bugs when it first rolls out too. They can't avoid it. Sony's customer support is some of the worst in the gaming industry... that's a fact... ask the gaming specialty retailers, etc.
MS had them and paid dearly with it due to a lot of negative press online and in the media. Thankfully it seems that they have caught their first round of hardware bugs by late December and that it seems the complaints for systems made in Jan 06 (and after) is much less than the launch systems.
STRICTLY From a money standpoint, open the system and play it. It'll be cheaper of the 2 high end HD gaming systems. Enjoy the games, since there's plenty of good ones for this coming out and by the Fall you'll have over 100 games to choose from.Last edited by DXZeke; 04-01-2006, 11:10 PM.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Should I get it (XBox 360) as an impulse buy?
Mark my words there will be massive shortages for the PS3. First the system will have a higher demand i.e. 10 times the hype and demand that the 360 had, now amplified Worldwide. Six million systems and that's a high estimate by Sony is a drop in the bucket.
My local EB managers told me that their corporate office informed them to expect 1 million worldwide at launch. I don't care either way cause i'll be first in line for a PS3 at launch.
Anyone who thinks and sorry Peter that Sony will NOT have massive supply shortages is either kidding themselves, or are buying into the Sony PR marketing crap.Comment

Re: Should I get it (XBox 360) as an impulse buy?
for me, I have to say the 360 was well worth it, even though I did have to add items to the console.. after debating for a time whether to get it or not, one of the things that aided my decision was that more & more of the people on my "buddy list" were playing games & a system that I could not - sort of "being left out in the cold"... & now, like you casey, I am actually debating whether to ship out my old xbox as well (still have a ps2 to toy around with) - the only thing keeping me from that is that TOCA 3 & ESPN Football 2k5 are not BC - 'yet'...... while it is an expense, it was a worthwhile purchase in more ways than one for me...Comment
