Min requirements on the box is a pentium 4 2GHZ 512MB ram 64MB Video card. Also 6GB of disk space.

I have a old Alienware PC thats got a Pentium 4 3Ghz and 2GB of ram and a ATI 1650 Pro. The game runs silky smooth. I am also using a xbox 360 controller when I am controlling the ships and using the Mouse and Keyboard when flying and using AA on ships(easier to aim with the mouse)

Whenever a game comes out for both the PC and the 360 I always get the PC version of it except for racing games. The PC is a better multiplayer platform and I like the mouse better than the analog controls in shooter games.

I finished the training, it's not short, but it teaches you everything. I did the Pearl Harbor mission, a lot of loading, but it was switching between parts of the mission I'm assuming.

I got all tied up flying the planes, shot down a few Zero's, and then really had no clue what I was doing, ended up crashing, called it a night.

I'm going to delve into it a little more this evening.

This could sound sadistic-but I like games that have a rather large learning curve. I still use Company of Heroes and that game handed my rear on a plate to me at first. Now,I'm at a point where I can win sometimes-sounds like BSM is like that on a larger scale. Didn't mean to get off subject-getting into the comparison thing..........enjoying your comments too, thanks.

I tell you one thing, the Pearl Harbor mission is breathtaking. When you see 50-60 Zero's in the sky, destroyers blowing up, bullets wizzing by everywhere, it's one hell of an experience.

Sounds impressive-but-Just read gamespot's review-they gave it a 7.8 out of 10 . They also said the single player game can be finished in 4 to 5 hours?! they claim it's way too short. What's your take on that? guess what I'm asking is do you see yourself replaying the same missions over again? does it change it up when replaying the same battle? like diferent start points? I see the game has bonus missions but it was mentioned that it can be too overwhelming for it's own good. I know I'm asking alot of questions and you haven't gotten that far yet-but when you do..............

I can see them maybe beating the game in 4-5 hours AFTER beating it once or twice already. The initial training takes over an hour. I highly doubt it's a 3 hour game. You can skip the training, but you'll be clueless how to do anything. The battle I was in, was about 10-15 mins, and I died, and I know I wasn't near the end. There are 10 levels I believe.

                      Re: Battlestations Midway

The biggest challenge initially is learning all the controls. Once you get past that and can finally play the game without having to scratch your head, the game becomes more enjoyable.

To me, the thing about single player games is, if they are really good they are NEVER long enough. Which is why I think games do better when they have multiplayer/co-op capabilites.

I have not played online yet, but I can see this game has good potential and should be alot of fun online when playing with people who have the controls understood well.

I cant wait for someone to make a WWII/WWIII type game on the magnitude of planetside.

                        Re: Battlestations Midway

Once I figured out what I was doing, this game really opened up to me. I can see why people would think the single player is short. I don't know about 4-5 hours short, unless you are playing on the easiest level, and already have mastered the controls.

But imo, this game is like BF1942 and BF2, the single player is there to get you familiar with the game, but it was really designed and meant to be played online.

Let me get this straight - do you actually fly the planes, steer the boats, etc. or is it more point and click for an attack?

                            Yes.

My understanding is that you can exert as much or as little control over individual units as you want. If you want to just point and say "go get 'em", you can. If you prefer being in the cockpit or at the helm, you can do that as well.

                              You can do both!

From the tactical map you can give orders to any unit, and then jump into any of those units to control manually.

I completed the first 3 or 4 training missions last night. I like the idea of using the tactical map as well as individually controlling the ships/planes manually. I still haven't touched any of the campaign mode or multiplayer yet but I think it's been very helpful so far going through the academy.
