Re: Mass Effect Pre-Release discussion
First web review I have seen.
Being a Bioware junkie that I am, when Mass Effect was first announced I jumped with joy due to the excitement of Bioware working on a trilogy exclusively for the Xbox 360 (which is somewhat in doubt now due to Electronic Art's purchase of Bioware). With merging the shooter genre with the role-playing genre, I had no doubt in my mind that Bioware would be able to pull it off and set the bar for RPGs on all next-generation consoles. But little did I know that Bioware would do such a thing and go one step further to creating the closest game to perfection I have encountered in recent memory. If there is one game that every Xbox 360 gamer should play at least once, it would have to be Mass Effect.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Mass Effect Pre-Release discussion
IGN Review - 9.4
In a year that has seen the Xbox 360 library finally round itself out with a series of quality Japanese RPGs, BioWare has shown just how far ahead of the curve it is with Mass Effect. The cinematic design is nothing short of masterful. This is a game that takes the aspects of film that make cinema so compelling and crosses it with the interactivity of games with unprecedented success. Linear storytelling feels quaint by comparison.
Mass Effect is game that is greater than the sum of its parts. Technical issues abound, but the majority of Mass Effect is so expertly delivered that it can transcend its weaknesses. Applying number ratings to a game like this doesn't do it justice because there is no way you can ignore its technical flaws. Simply put, Mass Effect is a game that must be played. Then it must be played again. Don't pass this one up.http://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis

Teamxbox Review
As a favor to you, our dear readers, I don’t want to ruin any part of the story, which is one of the best we’ve seen in…well, ever. We’re not just talking about the world of video games, either. Mass Effect’s plot and writing is better than that seen in most science fiction movies or TV shows, and is (we hope and pray) part of a planned trilogy of games. The folks at BioWare did an amazing job of creating and fleshing out this universe, populating it with interesting and unique races, each of which has a deep backstory.
Most complaints are the game is marred with technical issues. Hopefully one day we will get to experience a BioWare game without them.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Mass Effect Pre-Release discussion
Eurogamer Review 8.0
Although it underpins the game with all sorts of excellent ideas that ought to make it a deeper, more intelligent and immersive experience, the simple truth is that the minute-to-minute combat simply isn't as intense and involving as you'd expect from a game in 2007. Throw in some grumbles about the somewhat unoptimised state of the frame-rate, texture pop-in and v-syncing terrors, and it's a game that just falls short of our expectations. An eight, then, but a good one...http://www.myspace.com/phillthegenesis

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

One thing that would be cool in the next one is if you could choose your own voice like in Def Jam: Fight For NY, of course with all the dialogue that might be too expensive and time consuming.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters.
