Resident Evil is the best game on the system, imo.

Eternal Darkness, Mario Baseball (really fun and underrated baseball game), Paper Mario 2, Pikmin 2, Fire Emblem, (and I know its been said repeatedly...) Resident Evil 4
I wouldn't bother with Zelda: Wind Waker. It just isn't nearly as compelling or polished as the other Zelda titles. If you want to play Zelda go for the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time.Comment

Re: Getting a Gamecube, what games should I get?
Thanks guys for all the recommendations. I'm definitely picking up Metroid, Resident Evil, and a couple of the others mentioned. The good news is most all of them are cheap (19.99 and under) I'm also considering forgoing a couple of games and getting a wavebird, since they seem to get pretty good reviews most everywhere I've read.Comment

If you like Rpgs I'm going to go on ahead and toss out Tales of Symphonia. Very fun game, especially if you can get 3 of your friends to join in with you.Comment

Re: Getting a Gamecube, what games should I get?
Only thing I hate about the "Gamecube" is that it's impossible to find component cables and on ebay, prices are insane. Check this out:
$81.00 for this auction:
$100 on a completed auction:
I've seen completed listings that range from $65 to $100 just for this set of cables. HOLY CRAPOLA!Comment
