Re: PSP now $250 w/
That's the thing for me, I play sports game on my console. My handheld is for quick games, 10-15 minute playing periods. I don't have the desire to play an entire game of MLB or NCAA on a handheld. That's just me though.Comment

Totally understandable. It works for me because I take it on business trips and it makes the time go by.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: PSP now $250 w/
Negative. Everyone is so quick to compare everything about it to DS, when if you take it on it's own it's one of the most successful handhelds from the last decade. It's holding it's own in two territories, and business wise it makes more sense to turn profit then to chase something that isn't going to slow down.Comment

Re: PSP now $250 w/
The only $50 game I know about is GTA, which is reasonable considering what's going to be in it. The most overpriced stuff tends to be stuff like Ghouls and Goblins, which should be $30, but overall the value for what you get is fine by me.Comment

Re: PSP now $250 w/
Right. And if those games are more fun than the straight ports -- often with fewer features -- at $40-50 for the PSP, who gives a f*ck?
The DS is about gameplay, not graphics. The PSP has that equation reversed. The choice is yours.

Re: PSP now $250 w/
IMO the PSP is still overpriced by $249. There's no question Sony purposely made this into a swiss army knife of portable consoles. So why in gods name did they not make a TV Tuner device to allow someone to watch Football games or other sporting events or TV shows if you happen to be away from home?
I guess Sony these days has pretty much lost common sense because the PSP represents that, a machine with little direction as to what it wants to be.Comment

Re: PSP now $250 w/
That's an overblown stereotype, the average price for a PSP title is $40 and there have been lots of quality non-ports this year: Tekken DR, Syphon Filter, Locoroco, Mega Man Powered Up, Daxter, Maverick Hunter X, Metal Gear Acid 2 and Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins are the ones I can recall. The one port I bought for it this year, Valkyrie Profile was worth $100+ prior to the PSP conversion. I do wish there were less ports, but it's not as bad as people imply either.Comment

Re: PSP now $250 w/
Erv, no offense if you find any here but think about it. If we're not comparing the PSP to the DS, then what's the point? They're both handhelds and they're both things that are trying to catch the attention of as many people as possible. The PSP falls short not because of its "stellar" unoriginal properties but because it hasn't done anything that distinguishes it from being the hard-on supercomputer in your hand. It has great power and graphics but that's not what attracts people. I mean, they should have learned when the Game Gear was competing against the Gameboy. It's the quality of the games which Sony can't seem to get. Those titles you named are all titles that have been played before. There needs to be something brand new coming from the Sony camp to sell those things. I have to disagree with you thinking that "it's one of the most successful handhelds from the last decade. Only success I can remember is the gameboy.
PSP needs to decrease if it plans on selling more. I was thinking about getting one but hell, I could buy 360 games plus a few DS games for what they're asking for. The thing has horrible handles on it anyhow. It needs to be more appealing towards the casual gamer in order to make a significant profit. Sony needs to step up its thinking game.Comment

Re: PSP now $250 w/
in all seriousness though, I have a Leatherman I use at work. It does a lot of things halfway decently, but it doesn't excel at doing any one thing. Sure, I have some screwdriver options, and a knife, but odds are I'll need to hit up my smaller screwdriver set, or get a bigger knife, to meet another task. It's all a matter of opinion, but I want my portable game player to excel at being a game player, not be ok at that, ok at music, ok at movies, etc.Last edited by mgoblue; 09-13-2006, 09:41 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
