Couple of quick questions for you (because I just got mine and I don't want the same thing to happen). You said that you got it in August, but what is the manufacture date on the console? Do you have an intercooler or the like with it?

I got mine last week and with the intercooler it gets no warmer than a PS2.

BTW, sorry for your loss. Did you get the warranty?

The MFD is May 11, 2006. I didnt anything like the cooler for it. NO, I didnt get the warranty! It was like another $60 and the guy at Gamestop said that they fixed the problem and it was only 360's that were made before March.
I should have listened to all the posts. MY RECOMMENDATION TO ALL THINKING OR ABOUT THE BUY THE 360. GET THE WARRANTY FROM THE STORE. JUST DO IT. DO ASK QUESTIONS. JUST DO IT.
And I was just getting into the franchise with the Nets 22-10 and in 1st place in the East.
I feel like im playing football in the street and a big 18 wheeler is stuck in the street. Waynes World. Garth "Car".

So what does microsoft normally do? Do they repair yours and send it back? Send you a refurbed one? Send you a new one? I am waiting on my "coffin" right now.

It was $40. The Gamestop warranties are 10% of purchase price.

It's pretty sad when we have to refer to the reliablility of the 360 with sayings like "3 red rings of death" or "they're shipping me a coffin".

They make you wait a week to get a box, then a week to fix, then a week to ship it back. You may get yours back, or a refurb, or new one based on what was wrong with your in the first place.

Also, make your UPS driver wait for you to box it up and hand back or you will have to pay to have them pick it up from your home. I called MS and compained for a refund for shipping and they sent me a free game, but still it has been 2 weeks and my console has still not made it to Texas.

Game patches, Coffins, Red lights flashing, no fatigue, lock ups, left out game features....etc etc.

The next generation is here, can't you feel it!

Im on my way to being on my 3rd 360 just got the red lights.When I get the new system Im selling it and waiting to see how the ps3 turns out Im done with the 360.

I would wait to see how the PS3 turns out first before buying if your going to sell the 360.

Yes, it's broke. The 3 red lights represent a hardware failure.

I have a question if you have the bestbuy warranty and that happens do you take it to bestbuy and they replace it?

Then they give you the option of rebuying another extended warranty. I would definately buy it again.
