I've recently taken mine off because of the noice it creates. I got tired of fixing the foam, but theres no damage to my Xbox 360 luckily. I'm tempted to give the fan stand a shot because I do have my 360 standing. But I have a wireless adapter, and thats the only USB port I see on the back.

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
I just took mine off and glad I did. I used to have my sound skip in and out and now since i took this off No Sound Skips. I use a optical cable for the record."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
I just hooked everything back up and so far everythinig is working. I was a little nerveous because of the missing plastic piece around the middlel power prong but so far so good. Now, hopefully it won't catch on fire and burn my house down.Comment

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
All I can say is this:
I have a December '05 360 which has had an Intercooler on it from the beginning. I normally check the heat fans once a month just to see how hot the console is getting, and I tend to leave my 360 on for longer (about 4-6 hours) periods. While the air has always been warm, my console never got hot to touch.
Today, after reading this thread, I took the Intercooler off, and put my 360 on for about 5 hours. After it was over (about 5 minutes ago), my console was EXTREMELY hot on the bottom and around the exit fans, and the air coming out was noticeably warmer.
The burning is an effect of electricity arcing. You get arcing if contacts aren't making full contact. I have not had any problems with my Intercooler, and guaranteed it is back on there now.Comment

Same here. I took it off and there wasn't a hint of damage. I played a bit and the 360 got really hot. I've already made up my mind to set some money aside to buy a new core system if mine dies so I'll just take my chances with the Intercoller on as it has served me well until now. I'll definitely check it more often though.Comment

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
Can I ask a dumb question?
Couldnt I just place a small fan next to the 360 and it would accomplish the same thing?
I know its a little ghetto but at least it wont destroy the 360!XBOX Live Gamertag: pb4201

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
Not quite. It might help but it won't be the same. The point is to evacuate the hot air from the 360. A fan next to the 360 would pull some of its air from the 360 outtake but also a good bit of ambient air, which does nothing to help cool the 360. The fans inside the cooler can only pull the air coming out of the 360 because of the casing surrounding them.Comment

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
Hopefully some of these reported issues with the intercooler make NYKO redesign this thing so it can hook right up to USB.Comment

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
Microsoft has already cautioned 360 owners about using the Intercooler. The may void your warranty if they see the 360 has been damaged by the Intercooler.Comment

Re: NYKO Intercooler Damage
While the 360 sounds quieter without it, there is no question it runs a lot cooler with it on.Comment
