Re: Warning for those considering buying a 360
With electronics there will always be error. The OP has had problems. I have my system from LAUNCH. It was manufactured in Oct 05 & have had no major problems. A couple of freezes, but that has been it.
When buying electronics, there's always a risk that something faulty will happen. That's just how it goes unfortunately...Comment

When I called to send my in, customer service was great. When my HDD crashed on the XBOX1, they took care of it, no problem.
Obviously this thread was created to try to convince people to hold off for a Wii or PS3....its a joke.
The Xbox 360 is a great system and M$ has been great customer service wise.
This is a warning thread its more of a M$ hating thread. The system is great and so are its games. And they've been doing great when it comes to repairing and replacing systems.
Nobody really cares about the Wii or PS3, mainly because none have showed any real good titles.
I'm sure the Wii will sale, because of price and of course Zelda (in which is going to be a badazz game.)
But PS3 will be a sad launch due to the lack of exclusive launch titles and shortage of systems....
Right now, if you want excellent gaming online and offline....360 wins by a landslide....and will continue to win...for quite a longtime....I don't see Wii or PS3 slowing them down.
Oh! yeah! Sony's customer service is b.s. and when you try to replace anything. Like my PS2's and my 2 pixelated PSP's....They charge you to fix crap, that was their fault. So please....never defend them....
Calm down. You are totally overreacting to this post. I dont think the original poster made this thread to encourage people to buy a ps3 or a wii. He is just frustrated with MS's customer service. I am on my 3rd 360 and MS has been great each time i returned it nut I have friends who have had issues with their customer service. Just because you didnt have a problem doesnt mean other people dont.Comment

Whats the deal with 360's? Sounds like everyone needs them replaced.
Please note this question is coming from somebody completely out of the loop when it comes to the next gen consoles.Comment

To put things in perspective, the good titles were COD2, NBA 2K6 and PGR3. Only one original title. And both COD2 and NBA 2K6 were prettied up ports....that were barely prettied up.
The reality is, there are enough Sony diehards that will make the system catch up to the 360 in sales in no time...that is if they can produce enough.
Myself? If it weren't for the absurd price, I'd be there on Day One as well, instead I have to wait for One Day.Comment

No problem here. Have a launch 360 (year old) and no problems. Play it nearly every day.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Re: Warning for those considering buying a 360
luckily (and knock on wood), i've had no problem with my 360. if you want a 360, get one and don't worry about it at all. The problems you hear of are completely outnumbered by those who are satisfied with their Microsoft XBOX 360. You wouldn't think that simply due to the nature of what it is ... a complaint and that's all you hear of. No one is going to start a thread saying hey my XBOX 360 is good, it works, yeah! However, the minute one is defective, you will see a post on a message board how company x is a piece of crap, the console is crap and so on. My advice is to avoid launch consoles from anyone not named Nintendo (nintendo is pure quality) if you are concerned at all (I'm not saying you'll have a problem, just that if you are really worried then wait). Do all of you remember the problems with PS2 when it first came out? I think most problems have more to do with these companies rushing their consoles out the door than with anything else. Again, I'd just avoid machines produced during the launch shipment if you really are worried and you should be safe. With the 360, I waited until the new wave hit the stores and they were suddenly readily available (around May '06) and like I said (knock on wood), mine has been fine. Especially, now with better titles being released I'm glad I have a 360.Comment

Re: Warning for those considering buying a 360
As much as I like my 360, the launch games were NOTHING to rave about. The system seller, PDZ? CRAP. Is anyone even still playing it? Would anyone have played it had it NOT been a launch title?

Re: Warning for those considering buying a 360
I've been one of MS' biggest supporters with the 360. And their customer service has been nothing but **** for me. My 360 died, and in order to get the arcade games back on my HDD for my silver account or while not hooked up to Live (the instance where Live was down 2 days is the only time), I had to fax in info, call them 8 times, argue, spend 6 1/2 hours on the phone and just this morning, did I finally get the codes to get my games back. No clue if they will work or not, as I'm not home to try, but I'm guess it's not going to as MS told me I have to enter the codes on my gold account. Now, how am I supposed to rebuy games I already have paid for on the Marketplace? Hmmm, the idiot at MS had no clue either. I asked him if I should use my wife's silver account (since it's the one that can't access anything) and he said I can't, the codes are tied to my gold account. So, it looks like I still won't have my arcade games, but I'm 18,000 points richer. Whoopee. Thanks MS for nothing....r u giving the PS3 a shot EG?...just wondering

Re: Warning for those considering buying a 360
Marketplace points...
No, not really interested. I'm starting to feel like I'm getting burned out. I said it a month ago or so, and now it's even more on my mind of going just Wii and DS. In 22 years of owning Nintendo products, I've never had an issue.
It's also my frustration showing through, I do love the 360, but the rigmarole has just soured me.Comment
