If they are $4, that would be awesome. There wouldnt even be a need for an HD-DVD players unless you have 1080p. I mean, if you own a movie you wont watch it more than 4 or 5 times anyway right? 5 times at $4 a pop is just as good as owning a movie. Probably better.

At $4 per show (in HD), I think it might be a while before you ditch cable.

Not right away, but Sony will be sure to follow suit here, and maybe further down the road, we may see a more "on-demand" mentality.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

So if that's the case and I believe you then what does that do to HD-DVD or BR? Someone else said video rental stores are closing down which is a shame because I rent my games from there.

Well, I think we are at the pioneering stages of all of this. If you remember a while back, some Sony exec was getting slack because he said the PS4 probably wouldn't even have a moving drive in it to play games/movies.

The driving force will become digital media. We see it now with music, and we will soon see it with movies/TV.

With the increasing popularity in DVRs/TiVo, these major broadcasters are going to have to begin trying a different approach. Something that hasn't been mentioned is these TV shows will be without commercials. That's a plus, but I still don't see the need to have two means of watching CSI.

However, if I am able to pick and choose content at a much larger scale, I would consider getting rid of cable. It's a good thing for the consumer, but until they find ways to still gain from advertising, we won't see all of this move too quickly.

As far as Sony goes, they'd have to be moronic not to take advantage of the movie/music rights they have and do the same type of thing with the PS3. It has to be a no-brainer for them.
