Does that mean its a wrap? I did what they said about unplugging everything and taking off the hard drive but i still get the 3 red lights. So am i right to assume that its a wrap and i am gonna have to send it back to MS? I bought it from bestbuy in like August, i am pretty sure i cant return it back there. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

if you've unplugged everything and reconnected it (at least 3-4 times) and you still get the ring of light around the power button then it is probably time to send it to MS. i heard that they extended the warranty for an extra six months from purchase, so it won't cost you anything to send it in. but yeah, it is probably fried. it took about ten days from shipping it, for me to get mine back, (actually sent me a new one, don't know if they are still doing that though).

Yeah your 360 is finished. Microsoft will send you a box to put it in and ship it off to them. It should take about two weeks total. They extended the warranty for free so it shouldn't cost you anything. Good luck!

Just out of curiousity, are you using an intercooler? If so, remove it and try powering up without it. Worked for me.

Anything prior to August 18, 2006 would be considered out of warranty by Microsoft which is not right considering the problems these systems have had.

It will and is happening. I have never brought a system on launch, you know problems are going to come up. That's just the way it is.

Unless you get lucky like I and some others on this board did. I personally haven't had any issues with mine and it has only frozen once or twice in the year that I've had it.

NCAA Football once, GOW once, Viva Pinata once.

I think the Pinata freeze is a game error not the 360.

so are you saying that anything manufactured prior to august 18 is out of warranty, or are you saying that if you bought it prior to august 18, that expires the warranty? in any event, ms is behaving unethically considering that you can buy a toaster or a vacuum and get a better warranty than that. i bought a tool (about $300) from sears and it broke a year later and they replaced it for free. why can't ms do the same with a relatively expensive electronics device like the 360?
