Will EB allow you to take it back for full price?

Obviously the 360 and i'm not trying to be a smart @ss. The 360 has great games plus XBL. The PS3 is just starting out and is playing catchup.

I have a question that I don't think was asked.

Can you turn the PS3 on and off with the controller? Or do you still have to manually do it? And how do you turn it on? With a switch in the back or on the front?

            Yeah I'm lazy...

Yes you can and the power switch is in the back like the PS2. You can turn it on by either the controller or touching the power button located just in front of the DVD slot

I have all 3 systems (360, PS3, Wii) The 360 is still my favorite with all the titles and XBL, plus the controller is still my favorite as well.

Now Give the PS3 some time ...about a year from now and then we can revisit this. Just like the 360 at launch didnt have a whole lot going on either, so its not a true comparison yet. But yeah the 360 is like my Dreamcast 2.0 ...lol

Sorry if this was posted already......

PlayStation 3 Launch Review -- An IGN Editorial

                    The Bottom Line
System launches don't always tell the future. There were mixed reactions to the Xbox 360 last year and now it's thriving. The GameCube and Dreamcast had successful debuts, yet they didn't end up with a market share as big as originally predicted. What does history like this say for the PlayStation 3? The honest answer is that nobody really knows -- they can only speculate. Personally, I think that Sony's brand name and developer support will keep it in a close race for the top, but that's not based on my view of its launch performance... it's just a hunch.

                    The competition.

I'll close with this: given the momentum of the Xbox 360 right now and the strong reactions to the Wii's launch last weekend, the PS3 didn't come out swinging hard enough to cement its heralded position as king of the next generation this year. It's a long battle, of course, and Sony is well equipped to deal with it for the long run (as its PS One and PS2 victories have proven). But as the old saying goes, you only get one chance at a first impression -- and for this chance, the PlayStation 3 didn't dominate, it just showed up.

The Bottom Line: 6 out of 10

I have the same thing with my 360, though it was never a problem with my PS2 or Xbox. It's some sort of interference with the cable box. If I unplug the cable when I play, it goes away.

Even if the PS3 isnt on but its still connected to the input via the component cables, the black screen has those white stripes too. Its never been like that for my PS2, does anyone know why?

LB, I use to work for Sony and this is CYA just in case. I have now doubt Sony wants to badly fix this issue because this would only give their competitor cough..MS..cough an advantage.

Prior to the release of the PS3 all reports were the machine ran very hot and was just as loud as the 360. Sony fixed that problem albeit they underclocked the CPU (rumor) with the launch systems but they fixed those two gremlins.

I think they will fix this problem as well now that the media has caught wind of it.

I bet the ommission of 720p was intentional. It is widely known that 720p is the standard for Sony's competitor and they want everyone to step up to 1080p. It's no reason why 720p was ommitted since it is a SMPTE HDTV standard. Last time I checked 1080p wasn't ratified yet as one. It could be at this point though.

This sounds very bad, but there was a guy on that site that had a workaround to this problem.

If that article is saying that a firmware upgrade can't fix this, do you know Rod what they might do to get it working for those that already have a system? I can see them fixing it for future releases of the console if firmware can't fix it, but what about the early adopters?
