360 VGA Cables?

Does anyone have VGA cables that arent the Microsoft ones? $40 seems overly expensive for some cables, especially when there are Mad Catz cables and other 3rd party brands for $19.99.

I am returning the MS VGA cables I just bought back to CC tomorrow. I bought these along with my HD-DVD so I can upconvert SD-DVDS but the component cables are just better. The color from the VGA cable is just so bland. I'm sticking to component and my 1080i. Some people say there is no difference but on my TV there is. Component just looks so crisp, sharp and bright while VGA comes close without the cripness and color. Not much difference between movies but gaming there is big time.

How I wish Xbox had HDMI cables!

I read that on some LCDs over VGA it looks washed out but a trip to your TV's settings menu will have it looking better than Component.

That said, does anyone know about my question? I'll be on a standard def TV if i don't get VGAs...

Since the Fall Update, the "Washed-Out" look via VGA is basically non-existent. As for those with LCD TV's/Monitors I would highly recommend connecting your 360 via VGA.

Once connected, you may even have the option to take FULL advantage of your TV/Monitor's via the 360 Dashboard. Not to mention the ability to UPCONVERT SD-DVD to HD Resolution

Thanks alot for the info bk. I had a VGA cable sitting around, but I only used it for the monitor. I have a Samsung DLP and saw your post...so I hooked it up and cranked the resolution up in the Dashboard, it looks so much better. Me and the gf were shocked at how much better it looked...

I'm thinking of getting the VGA cable now that I bought that LCD screen. I have 2 sets of component cables for 2 TV's, I can sell one of them on ebay and get my money back since their Monster and I had bought them very cheap from Amazon earlier in the year.

Can someone give more info on this? I have the 50'' Sammy and was curious to know if I can hook up the vga cables. Also can someone post pictures or give a detailed comparison between vga and component.

if you got the 50" sammy that is model 5087 or better then you can use vga. as for which is better or how it will look i can't tell you because i've not bought the vga cable yet...but yeah i have the 50" sammy too and i'll be finding out here before christmas because i plan to buy that hd-dvd add-on.

NP, glad it helped. I didn't even think about it. A friend of mine did it and raved, so I did what you did. Plugged it in, cranked up the resolution and voila, looks great.

Man, I love my Sammy DLP.

Just as an FYI, I was using the MS components that came with the system. It looked good on my LCD panel, but looked noticeably better when I went out and got Monster components for the 360.

However, when I got the Monster VGA's...OMFG, what a HUGE difference. I cranked up the resolution to the highest my tv allows and wow, the sharpness and colour is out-of-this-world good.

Definitely worth the 80 bucks CAD I paid.
