Re: 360 VGA Cables?
eh?
i have never heard of 5:4, only 4:3 and 16:9. wouldnt 5:4 make it taller than wide? Never seen a monitor like that beforeComment

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
No. The first number is the width. 5 > 4 so it's wider than tall. The width in a 5:4 ratio is closer to the height than in a 4:3 ratio though so the screen is closer in shape to a square.Comment

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
I'm looking into picking up a cheap 19/20" lcd monitor (anything will be better than standard def) later this month. I have two questions:
1. does the xbox have a vga port on the back (so you could use any old vga connector) or is it proprietary?
2. If i do buy a 360 specific VGA cable that comes with the sound outputs, are their LCD monitors that accept these plugs? I've seen many with built in speakers but i'm still unsure about this. An example would be the monitor in the link.

2. depends on, as you said, if the monitor has speakers, and if they do, do they have the kind of input you need.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
Thanks for the first answer, but the 2nd isn't telling me anything I don't already know. The question was if any LCD Monitors had those kind of Audio inputs.Comment

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
Monitors with speakers will use RCA plugs, none will use the toslink 5.1 cable if that's what you're asking.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
Check Ebay for a a 360 vga cable. I just got mine (3rd party w/toslink output) for $11. Check it out you will save money over buying from a store. I am going to test the cable on my 37" 1080p Westinghouse that gets delivered tomorrow and will inform how it looks.Comment

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
I went and picked up the VGA cables tonight, I was looking for Monster cables but EB didn't have them so I got MS. Before I rip these open I do have a few questions. I know my TV, a Sony KDF-E42A10 42 inch 3LCD chip rear projection, has a PC Input that says RGB and the owner's manual says use cable HD15-HD15 cable to hook up to the PC(360 in this case) will this still work? And in the spec is say 1280x720 pixels, so what should I set my resolution to, my TV supports up to 1080i? Thank you guys for your help.

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
That PC input is where you plug in the VGA cable. The VGA port is also called the 15pin D input so thats where that title comes from. Also that resolution means your tv is ideal for 720p.
anyone else planning on picking up a VGA cable check these out

I'm planning on getting these as soon as I decide on a LCD monitorComment

Re: 360 VGA Cables?
the game looks fine on my monitor except for the black bars on the botton and top. thats normal, right? when i set the game display to Widescreen, it takes up the whole screen but it oviously distorts the image as if its scrunching the widescreen image into my monitors frame.
thanks for the info. ill stick with my maximum monitor settingsComment
