    Re: Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3)

I am going to ask a very stupid question.

I have never played the VF series before but couldn't help but pick up VF5 because it was something new on the PS3 and it looked amazing.

Could someone explain to me the concept of Quest Mode? I do not understand it.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

With Quest Mode, your going from Arcade to Arcade fighting in tournaments at each aracde. This allows you to collect money so you can buy clothes/accessories for your character.

I'm pretty sure there won't be online for the 360 version. Because the game is so heavily based on timing and counters, Sega didn't feel an online mode would be up to snuff. I don't have a link, but I've read that in a few places.

is there anyway of "beating" the game?

            No word yet.

Lag is the issue. The shining mark of the franchise has always been it's responsiveness, and I get the impression that if they can't replicate that perfectly online they'll skip the mode altogether.

Oh, yeah, definitely. I just am not savvy enough to tell how much is AI, and how much is cheesy. Does that makes sense? It's definitely on that continuum somewhere - it's not pure cheats.

Definitely among the best, and probably the best I've seen that could support this responsiveness. It's not quite Gears Of War, but it's damn impressive.

Basically, yeah. There are new opponents, but it's essentially unchanged.

Once you beat Dural, then the game ends. Dural is the final boss.

I have this feeling that the "online" mode might not make it in the 360 version either. SEGA has been very firm on this issue, so who knows what will happen.

If you love just fighting over and over again you'd enjoy it. IMO its just as boring as VF4 was. I like quest modes like Soul Calibur and like dead or alive I guess. I dont know the game just seems like it will get really boring to me.

I was reading that the AI actually blocks a lot more the further along that you get into the game making fights even tougher.

From impressions, if you liked VF4:Evo, then this is a sure pickup.

same here. thats why I thought that I was missing something. The quest mode is extremely repetitive. Online would have made the game so much better.

How is DOA's Quest mode different than VF? I've never played DOA so I'm curious.

                            bump this question.

Also, w/ no online & simple 1-player options, is this game worth $60 or at this price is it a flop?
