Some quick notes from the review:

Left 4 Dead is also a completely different kind of game, and it feels as much of an experiment as it does an amazing gameplay experience. Valve has moved against convention and delivered a game that is built almost entirely around cooperative multiplayer action.

Now, if there's a ding against Left 4 Dead, it's that the fact that there are only four scenarios, which is a small number to wrap your head around, and you can play through a scenario in 20 or 30 minutes on the normal difficulty setting. On higher difficulty settings, it'll take longer. Granted, the four scenarios are highly replayable; you could play them over and over again and events unfold differently.

The value proposition also takes a slight ding when you discover that the Versus mode that lets you play as the zombies against other humans is only available in two of the campaigns (No Mercy and Blood Harvest).

There's absolutely no doubt that Left 4 Dead is one of the most social and exciting multiplayer games that we've ever played. It's almost pitch perfect in how it captures the tension and the action of a Hollywood zombie movie. This is an incredible and highly replayable multiplayer experience that's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're looking to prepare yourself for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. Just make sure you bring your friends.

we'll see about that. Valve said the same thing about the Orange Box, then released one patch for TF2 and released the new portal maps a year after the original game came out. After the initial (and only) TF2 patch was sent out last November, Valve promised new maps and new takes on the shipped maps, including turning Well into a CTF game instead of the control points. It never happened. Sorry to sound bitter but I play TF2 all the time and was quite disappointed to see that Valve's words never came to fruition.

On normal difficulty, which is way too easy.

Play it on Expert or atleast Advanced.

This game isn't a single player game at all, Valve has never said that. It's made for Co-Op, and the fact that the Co-Op game changes everytime you play it means this will be in the drive for a long time.

One need only look at Left 4 Dead for proof that the gaming landscape is fundamentally changing. This is a game that was obviously envisioned from the very beginning as a co-op experience, even modeling its single-player campaign to mirror that approach. The inventive and highly entertaining competitive multiplayer mode just adds to the experience, and we're looking forward to seeing what Valve's got planned for the game's future. Out of all the titles that have shaped the Year of Living Cooperatively, this may be the best experience of them all.

So yea.. I thought the demo wasn't coming out until the release date. Thankfully, I came out of the rock I was living under and found out it was already available. What a freaking blast! I can't wait to fire this up with some of my buddies.

So after 2-3 years of complaining 6-8 hour games are too short and knocking the scores down to 6's and 7's for it they give a 9 to a game that can be as short as 80 minutes probably even less on easy.

See this is why I don't listen to reviewers anymore and listed them as a dissapointment.

Im planning on getting a good amount of money next week and Im still trying to decide between this game and NBA 2K9. Eventually Ill be able to buy both, but not for a while, so I have to decide which one I want more, probably this game.

I played the demo for like three hours straight last night and the desperation and intensity of a random horde attack is just the kind of thrill I like in a shooting game. I also like how you can play with random people and still have a fun time.
