Duke Nukem Forever is still actively being developed (I actually try to follow it every now and then, lol...) and if I recall they've actually had stability on the engine front for quite some time (I think they're using highly modified Unreal II tech... not sure though).

Back to Spore, though, the article just got edited to say April 2008; which will probably have it releasing well in front of DNF.

        Re: Spore

I can wait on it. I got nothing but time and i'll have great games to play like Halo 3 (sep)and Mass Effect(Nov) and GTA4(Feb 09.

Besides, if all of them came out at the same time that would be a problem for me(Having to decide which one to get first, then having to decide which ones to play)...also I need some time to get me a new computer. Will Wright does not disappoint, he hardly does. This is just a good example of him wanting to released a finished game for EA rather than rush something out to shelves(Like how they do with their sports titles), like Peter Molyneux does. If you feel the game needs a extra year please take it.

          Not April 2009, April 2008.

Also, Spore is the one reason I wish I still owned a PC.

Wow. Just wow. So jealous of PC Owners. If you think it's forever until it gets to the PC, imagine how long until the 360.

              Spore in September

Redwood City, CA - February 12, 2008 - Get ready for the next Big Bang this fall! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Maxis today announced that Spore™, the highly anticipated game from the creators of The Sims™, will be available at retailers worldwide the weekend of September 7. Spore will be available for the PC, Macintosh, Nintendo DS™, and mobile phones.

"The wait is almost over," said Maxis Chief Designer Will Wright. "We're in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can't wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year."

Spore gives players their own personal universe in a box. Create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations, sculpt entire worlds and explore a universe created by other gamers. Spore gives players a wealth of creative tools to customize nearly every aspect of their universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even UFOs. Players can then seamlessly share their creations with the world or explore infinite new galaxies created by other gamers.

              Great interview with Will Wright.

              Part 1

In Part I of our world exclusive Q&A with Maxis chief designer Will Wright, we discussed what caused Spore to overshoot his original projected release date by nearly two years; how Facebook, YouTube and Flickr became metaphors to navigate user generated content withing the game; and why hardcore gamers shouldn't worry that Spore isn't "game-y" enough for their highly advanced palates.
              Part 2

In the second and final part of our interview, Wright shares some tidbits on the Wii version of Spore; explains the machinima tools; and reflects on the irony of building a revolutionary title on the back of classics like Pac-Man and Civilization. Enjoy.

I haven't read that interview but i hope it's not like Crysis and the specs are too high for anyone to get anything out of it.

                  Re: Spore

From what I heard a few weeks ago, financial analysts have said this was coming for months, that it is completely a business decision for EA and their books. Just a sad reality of gaming. But, that's EA for ya.

                      Demo coming next month!

The best news though is that any creatures you design in the demo can then be easily transfered over to the full retail version of the game, whether you made your monsters on a PC or a Mac

Really, there isn't many limitations to what it looks like we can do. I can't wait to see what people come up with come June. Great idea to release this early so when the game ships you can jump in and play.

How cool was the Youtube feature?

That was really amazing. I think it was funny how he wanted a "space dragon" and well, it doesn't look like a dragon at all to me, but I think it is cool. I can't wait to get my hands on this. Will Wright really is a genious. Sim City, the Sims, and Spore.
