Just picked it up and I guess a heads up to anyone who buys it but didn't like it. The FYE in Greenfield, MA will buy back Spore from you like any other used game or DVD. No idea if other FYEs are doing that.

anyone who has it what is your non BS assessment of the game? I got the impression that this would be a game like SimEarth only 10x attention to detail and graphics. However, after reading some bad reviews it really just sounds like 3 crappy mini games put into 1 game and the only cool thing about it is the editors?

Where do you hear about one game save? I have 3 games going on right now. From what I can tell you maybe have 7-8 planets to start on (simultaneously), and then you can delete everything on the planet and start over. I have 2 games myself and my girlfriend has one. You can only have one game save per planet at one time if that is what the one save comes from.

I like the game, I can't quite figure out what though. The hype really is too much for the game though. If you are somebody who constantly wants a challenge, somebody who likes the intricacies of Civ IV and not the sandbox feel of the sims will be disappointed with it. Creature stage is fun, Tribal is really kind of shallow, it was the 2nd shortest of all. Space is amazingly deep (or so it seems so far), but also can be very difficult. You are only allowed one space ship, and will be constantly attacked by 5-6. The game difficulty wise is a cake walk... until space when it almost becomes a chore with all the attacks.

If you like just messing around with things like the creature creator, designing things with editors, then this game is perfect for you. If you are looking for an in depth simulation of evolution, this isn't it. The game has a quality to it though, Throughout most of the game, I don't feel like I am having an epic time, but I keep going, for whatever reason. Kind of like that Civ type of experience ("one more turn").

Bottomline: if you like just messing around, and don't get really deep into it, the game is great. If you want the game to turn into a true RTS in tribe and civ mode, you will be disappointed. The game is "dumbed down" from what I expect having played games like Civ, but I am not disappointed with my purchase so far.

I'm surprised at this game. It's simply not good. There are some interesting concepts but nothing is executed very well, nor do any of the concepts actually bring anything new to the table. It is basically a combination of a few uninspired mini game.

Thanks for the confirmation! I was really looking forward to this game for sometime but really hadnt kept up on the features/details till as of late and what I heard wasnt good..... glad I didnt run out and grab it right away.

I just borrowed this game from a co-worker yesterday. Installed it and played for about 3 hours last night. What a fun and addicting game! Anyone else out there playing it or am I alone?

Just found a way to post my little guy I made...created a planet called Kernersvillia (I live in Kernersville, NC). Created a creature called an Orange Salemite (used to live in Winston-Salem).

Next you should create yourself in a speedo.

Then when you get spaceships, drive it right into the Intergalaxial Waterway.

Then have another species do a cartwheel beside it.

Then I might care.

Nice bumpage but:
Origin sent a code for a free game. (choice of 1 of 3)

Spore was the only one of the 3 i never played so grabbed it on Friday.
Just got started before going out of town for weekend.

Looks like a cool game. If I like it I may grab the add-on.

Got Spore and the other two expansions on Amazon for $15 just about. Going to try it out and see how it goes.
