$50 for the first year. It hasn't been confirmed yet on what Microsoft plans to do with the price after that. I would guess a monthly fee of about $10 US a month.

The intitial subscription for a year's worth of XBox live is $50.

It will probably run $120-$240 dollars a year after. I know that is a large range, but it will be either 10 dollars or 20 dollars a month.

What about cancelling after the 1st "free year" is up? Then buying a new starter kit and getting a 2nd "free year"? Yeah, it's kinda low and shady, but don't think people won't try to do it.

The one thing that Xbox has going for it is that the console hasn't hit it's peak from a graphical standpoint. This peak period should start to happen by early this year and all of next. The PS2 on the other hand has been maxed out, capabilities wise and is starting to show it's age.

I agree. The PS2 has reached it potential. The Xbox has much more to offer. Let's hope the games coming out later this year will be of quality. I for one can't wait for HALO 2 and DOOM 3.

The Xbox has the Xbox Live information saved onto the Dashboard. So I do not think they will be able to successfully cheat the system.

After November 15h 2003, don't be surprised that the free year subscribtion w/ a new starter kit gets canned. Plus, you'd have to get a new Xbox b/c your Xbox is currently registered. That's why you only need your orignal starter kit to recover your Xbox Live settings.

I just saw an interview on TV where this guy said that M$ never thought they would make money for the xbox. It is just a launching ground for the xbox2

duh.........they were losing something like 150-200$ per console when they were 300$, the martirials to make them got cheaper but they also moved the price down 100$ so.........= no money.........
