My up-strum was broken out of the box. Kinda sucks because I have always used up-strum. Oh well, at least I should be getting a replacement soon.

I think that's why I hated the guitar, I have no problem with the down strum, but can't do the up strum at all.

My girlfriend sang and I played guitar as we started up a band last night. About two hours in and I'm ripping up songs on Hard and doing very well on Expert. I'm going to come out and say it, after about a dozen songs on this game the guitar is boring as hell. Somehow, I'm still having a blast! Great game!

The drums are great in this game, but after playing them for an hour my leg started cramping up pretty badly. Anyone know if there's a way to avoid this? Would a drum stool help?

Stool helps, but also teach yourself to hold the pedal down when not in use. Keeps the angle of your foot down and saves your leg muscles, especially during long songs (like the Boston song).

Deep through World Tour mode with the friends, loving every second. Need to get a PR Firm, but already have a jet and bodyguards, along with a sound guy and a manager. Loading screens of the jet show my band name on it, as well as a "best of" CD.

I understand that to do this, each player is locked into a specific role (singer, drummer, guitarist, bassist) and can't change roles from song to song as the created characters are locked to the instrument instead of the band.

Sounds like really poor design to me... does each real-life member of your band have a "role", or do you just use each other's characters?

Online World Tour is coming, I've read that the update yesterday was to prep it, we could have it by early to mid December. Don't quote me though, but it'll be in the game sooner than later.

That sounds sweet.

My mic must be defective, been having problems since release. Does anyone know what Harmonix is doing to replace defective accessories and how fast the turnaround is?

Me & my housemates all created our guys for the specific instruments, but then we switched like 3 songs in, so we were using each other's characters for a while. But when we took a break from actually playing, we created new characters for the instruments we were actually using.

So it doesn't track stats per character for scoring or unlockables?
If not, then I guess it's not a huge deal... the created characters are just for fun/show?

Hopefully with Rock Band 2, they fix some of these small nuances.

Honestly, I don't think so. Our main reason for doing it was just in a cosmetic sense. I wanted to look like me, lol

My brief thoughts on multiplayer, having played with four people:

This is the most fun I've had playing a video game this year. Period. If you have friends to play with, this game is a must-buy.

I thought this would be a hot item and not be able to find any, but I saw 5 at Wal-Mart last night. I was going to get one and put it on Ebay but I said nah.

I think it is a combination of more supply than EA led on and the high price.

Plus, this is the type of item that will have legs once people see what it is all about (word of mouth, etc.).

One thing that is really hurting it, in my opinion, is an absolute awful marketing campaign. This is a game that has to be in seen in action to truly understand what it is all about, however EA is driving the marketing campaign with a cartoon of a guy on the hood of a car on a barren Arizona highway.......wtf? These are the types of business decisions that just don't make you feel sorry for people. Just awful.

I've decided to get this as a family gift this holiday season. I think my wife will enjoy it, as well as my 7 year old daughter. I seen 20 at Best Buy, and probably 15 at Wal-Mart.

I agree, the marketing hasn't been that great.

I saw about 30 last night at Best Buy and Walmart had a similar amount as yours. I guess EA over estimated this release.
