Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
I got one but I've tried using the bottom buttons to tap the fast parts but my fingers get lost in the placements because they are too close.
Last night though, I got up to 84% which pleased me.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Everyone I've talked to says the solo frets make this song much easier than trying to use the regular frets, so try to get used to using them on something easier, then give GG&HT a whirl.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
And don't bother trying to play all the zig-zag notes. Pick which is your stronger skill:
-Pull-offs
-Hammer-ons
Then when the two zig-zag sections come up just do one of them for the 3 notes.
So instead of hitting 1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1 over and over... make it a whole lot more simple and just hit
1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3 or 3-2-1, 3-2-1-, 3-2-1 over and over. Practice it and make sure you can do it without missing any of them - and if you do miss one, so that you can get right back into it. That's how I learned to pass the song. Those are the only two hard sections in the entire song. Get those down and you're golden.Comment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
It's possible that some things I may or may not have done in the past killed the majority of my brain cells, so could anyone give me a brief walkthrough for the World Tour mode? I don't really get the gist of it when playing multiplayer with the wife. We just got the game & would like to unlock more songs but are frustrated that we have to keep playing the same songs over & over at our gigs.
We're still in our hometown (London) and we were given the chance to play at the second venue, but haven't yet as we're still at 19/36 stars for the first one. Also, what do the numbers out of 10 (x/10) mean after create a setlist and random setlist?
I apologize for my ignorance and thanks!
EDIT: nevermind, I remembered that good ol' gamefaqs.com would probably have what I was looking for. Sounds like solo tour is the best way to unlock songs as MP tour seems to limit what you can play at each venue...Last edited by Qb; 07-24-2008, 12:21 PM.Comment

The way I look at it is...when you start off as a band, you're only going to know a couple of songs well enough to play and for your first couple of shows those are the songs you need to use to "wow" the crowd.
Then, as you start growing, start going to new venues, start playing more shows you learn more and more songs and start adding more and more songs to the available list of tracks that you have to play at a certain show.Comment

The World Tour tries to make it as "realistic" as possible.

Yeah it helps to have songs unlocked already, that way you're not so limited. And get some DLC for goodness sake!Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
The only problem is there isn't much DLC that's worth it. They need to get some more freaking metal out there already. It seems they're absolutely in love with this classic rock and rock crap, though. I don't get why there hasn't been some more Metallica, or some Megadeth, Nonpoint, or bands like that. It's like they're completely ignoring the metal fans.Comment

Oh, and there hasn't been more Nonpoint cause Nonpoint isn't good :wink:Comment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
Well that's a judgment call really. I'd say more than likely there are more fans of this "classic rock and rock crap" than metal, so they want to appeal to the masses. Plus, the casual player isn't going to want to have to try and play the metal riffs and the screaming.

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
The casual fans don't have to buy it then. That's the thing. They've already put out more than enough songs for the people who like all that sort of music. They released 3 Metallica songs and a really poor Thrasher pack and that's it. It's about time they came back around and got some more metal into the game.Comment

Re: Harmonix's Rock Band Discussion
I know and I was waiting for my paycheck today, but after crunching some numbers, I think DLC is very overpriced. If you buy 5000 points for $60+, you'll only get about 30-40 songs. The game itself has what, 70 or so songs and would cost about the same amount of money without the instruments.
That being said, there is some stuff that I have to get: Metallica, The Who, Oasis, Radiohead and many more I can't think of right now. Guess I'll just have to put up with my wife *itching that I spent another chunk of cash on this game. This even though she plays it with me and complains more than I do about wanting more songs. Ahh, the mystery of the female mind...
EDIT: Almost forgot, I was going to buy the DrumShh pads today as well (wife usually plays the drums). Worth it?Comment

I'm going to buy the drumshh pads as well. For those who've bought them, which ones did you go with? I'm thinking of the smaller pads that leave the ring of color visible.Comment
