Re: Guitar Hero 3
Did anybody pick this up for the Wii yet? I put it on my Christmas list, so I won't have it until a couple more months.

Re: Guitar Hero 3
I took my 360 bundle back to Best Buy and they already had about 7 or 8 returned this morning, some 360 and some PS3. On the defective one, I couldn't use my strum bar or directional pad to go up and down between the different songs on the set lists. But the strum bar worked just fine on the songs. Weird.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 3
So far I'm loving this.
The notes register FAR better than any other GH game yet.
The battle against Morello was awesome. I hope there's a way to just play the song solo, though. I really liked it.
One thing I had to do was calibrate the lag, though. I've never had to do that with another GH game. So if it's feeling off - go ahead and try it out. It helped a ton when I did it.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 3
I would say they register easier, but not necessarily "better". It felt like I didn't have to be really accurate to be successful, whereas GH2 required a lot of precision. But I never felt that my precision was unrewarded in GH2. I certainly never felt "screwed" or anything like that.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 3
Took me about 5 attempts, but I finally got past Morello on expert. I like that after failing a few times, I could skip the boss battle if I wanted and redo it later.Comment

I don't want to have to spend another 20$, but I guess in the long run this will save money.

Re: Guitar Hero 3
Yeah, it seems like Neversoft made a real effort to make the game easier for people with moderate skill levels. I couldn't help but feel assisted by the game, almost like when they put the "lock on targeting" in a shooting game. It's all good though, I'm sure most people will enjoy it. Makes my life easier, because with all of the great games coming out, GHIII was on the bubble of "too much money spent on games". Now I can focus on Rock Band, where I probably won't play much guitar anyway. I'll leave it to people who get more out of it.Comment

360 IGN Review is up! http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/830/830837p1.html
8.0 Presentation
The new additions are great, but the campaign mode is feeling dated.
7.0 Graphics
Robotic animations and the rare bit of slowdown won't win any awards.
9.0 Sound
The few covers could be better, but the overall soundtrack is fantastic.
9.0 Gameplay
Neversoft nailed the guitar mechanics on the first try.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
The online play and community features will keep this game in your console for a long time to come.
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)
PS3 got the same score - link to video review http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/858/858010/vids_1.html

Re: Guitar Hero 3
Argh! I just checked this setlist for both games and I like the one for GHIII twice as much. Why oh why did Harmonix cut out all of the metal? Damned whiners complaining about difficulty and clamoring for mainstream drivel!
This game has a real winning setlist, but I want to play drums! ah well. Six in one hand, half dozen in the other.Comment
