    Re: Guitar Hero 3

So far it's fun. Whoever the new developer is has made a few weird changes... There's no longer excitement when star power is activated. Before when it was activated, you knew it. You didn't even have to be looking at the screen. Now I wouldn't know except that the notes all turn blue.

And they took away the cheering for the encore - which made it exciting. They replaced it with some chat bubbles that pop up saying things like "yeah" and "encore"...

Whoever made this needs to work on their presentation skills.

Other than that, it's fun. I've got to get used to the new PS2 guitar - because the buttons are stiff - and your fingers stick to the plastic - so it can be hard to slide to a different note... I suppose that's just a work-it-in issue.

one more question: Any Wii owners?

Part of my decision for getting the Wii version is that it's $10 less and all you can really look at while playing it is the scrolling fret board...so graphics aren't all that important. It also runs off the Wiimote's power.

I guess it comes down to achievements and DLC on the 360 vs. price, battery, and another good game for the Wii.

Hopefully I'll have some verson in my hands before the day is out.

Oh....and has anyone seen any single wireless guitars being sold for either the 360 or the Wii (w/o the game)?

Games alot of fun. Tried it online and it was pretty good as well, no noticable lag, except with the first song we tried.

If you havent played gh2 in a while, this game will make you go back to it cause you realize how much fun this game can be.

I do agree with having to get used to knowing when you have star power. I have sat there for a few songs never knewing i was maxed out until my wife pointed it out. Other than that, the game is gold.

Didnt bother picking up the new guitar, just got the game and using the old explorers which are fine by the wife and i.

actually no, i tried out the gibson, and for gaming purposes, i just cant see myself getting a 3rd guitar cause of the 'cool factor' and the wireless really did nothing for me; i am fine being wired.

I can use the extra cash i saved to get battalion wars 2.

Funny you mentioned being wired. Even though I generally like wireless gaming, with a guitar I'm used to having a wire, so having a wire with the toy guitar feels more like real life. I just wish it were longer, so you could wrap it around a strap the way you're supposed to.

Got it last night, and it's great. Not a huge fan of battle mode, but I've only battled against CPU Tom Morello so far. A lot of fun songs on here to play, out of the ones I've unlocked so far (though the first tier is painfully easy).

The new guitar is awesome too (if only because it's wireless). It has a different feel for fretting the notes though, takes some getting used to.

So far, my one complaint is that the Boss battles while their very cool just weren't implemented so well. Granted, I started the game on EASY like I always do with every GH and work my way up the difficulties to collect money.

What bothers me is that we only have 3 boss battles and that is it. Slash, Tom Morrello, and Lou................unless we get more on the other difficulty settings, this is disappointing and there should have been maybe another 2-3 boss battles implemented since the first two were very fun. I found the boss battle against Lou very stupid, though the animations were cool leading up to the boss battle.

Other than that so far, the game is really fun and could do without some of the songs on here but they have something for everyone which is cool.

Plus I like that the new guitar is wireless + it feels a little bit heavier than the Xplorer which isn't a bad thing. Only thing that sucks is that you can't use battery packs, unless someone finds a way 3rd party accessory wise.

I have a problem with my guitar. Here's the deal. Slow Ride is the best example to explain my problem. (I play on expert). When the green and red chord comes up (the long note) the yellow button is highlighted (on the screen) eventhough I don't push it. This is definately a glitch/problem with my wireless guitar because my old explorer doesn't do it. Anyway, I get credit for hitting the note but it is cut short. This goes for ANY long green and red chord. I feel that this may be difficult to explain, I hope I am making sense. Its very frustrating. I called Game Stop and they told me the best thing to do was to call Activision, I'm real sure I'll get somewhere with that. So I may just take the guitar back to the store and see if they can switch it out.

Is anyone else having this type of issue?

I would take the guitar back to them and get another one, the game hasn't even been out 24 hours and their telling you to call Activision. I would never shop at that Gamestop again, those morons.

My 6 year old son and I started our coop career and I was pleasantly surprised that we did NOT have to play on the same difficulty. I was very concerned that I would have to play on easy for us to play together. That was a really nice surprise. I can't wait until we get to the heavier songs at the end.
