Re: Guitar Hero 3
I agree about the Medium to Hard jump being the most difficult. In addition to the orange button, you're playing significantly more notes and more chords too. Just a lot of things to get used to. You'll get used to it with practice.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Re: Guitar Hero 3
The best thing you can do with your transitioning from Medium to Hard is enable the Hyperspeed "cheat" (not really a cheat in my book) and up it to speed 2 or 3. Get used to having to read notes a bit quicker, maybe it will trigger faster fingers or a better way to look up the fretboard a little more than you normally do.
For me, getting orange got pretty easy. Here's a tip: Use your pinkie as little as possible. You have four other fingers, much stronger and very capable of reaching there... just slide your hand a bit. I think my having played guitar for years before ever picking up a Guitar Hero game helped me with that hand-sliding ease as well. Also the fact that GH was a much easier game on Expert than either GH2 or GH3 (but GH3 is especially the hardest to newcomers because of the insane solos though HO/PO difficulty is much easier) made my incline to GH3 like it was nothing. I was able to slowly increase in difficulty and get up to expert.
For now, find a song that you can do on Hard (maybe Hit Me With Your Best Shot) and just practice not using your pinkie. If you have separated buttons for chords, always use index and ring finger, and never middle and pinkie. My sister still does this... like she'll have a green/yellow then a red/blue. She does the green/yellow with her index and ring fingers, but when red/blue comes she doesn't slide up the fretboard to use those same fingers and instead uses her middle and pinkie fingers. Too confusing, too hard, and won't help you in the long run.
Good luck.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I have an above-average strength pinkie, but I do have difficulty using my pinkie on chords. Sliding has been difficult the few times I've tried it.Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 3
It used to get me too. Slow it down and practice mode. The three button chord interludes can be tricky, but you should be able to get through it with star power. It really isn't too bad if you can get the rhythm down.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Sad thing is, I struggle to even get to that point because I'm horrible with hammer ons.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Hammerons used to kill me all the time, especially in The Metal. That song was tricky but just remember you have even more fun songs ahead of you like Raining Blood lol.Villanova Class of 2012

Right now I just have to get through Cliffs of Dover and Raining Blood to make it to Lou on expert. Ugh. I'm not going to hold my breath on surviving Raining Blood. It's going to take awhile.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

I mean, I honestly don't have struggling problems with any of these songs, but if anything, I'd say that freak solo for One is tougher than anything Cliffs of Dover or Raining Blood offers.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Guitar Hero 3
For what it's worth, One is one of my favorite songs of all time, so I "know" the song very well. I'm still not quite sure how I made it through the solo. I had full star power going in. Normally, my Rock Meter just drops instantly, but I made it through without almost any drop at all (with star power). I was stunned to say the least. I blew through the rest easily enough, at least to where I was never in danger of failing the song.
On Cliffs, I know I can pass it, I just can't get that stupid orange tapping part in the intro of the song. Once I can do that reasonably well, I'll be fine.Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Well I haven't tried extensively on Raining Blood or Cliffs of Dover, but yeah, I made it through One.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't get how someone is supposed to do that orange part. I mean, I can get most or some of the notes (or if I just do orange I can get every note), but you can't really hold onto it like you could with a sequence of greens. Every other part about that song is pretty easy, even the stuff right before and after the orange stuff. It sounds very clean when you get it all, too. Just make sure you get both star power sequences before entering that part of the song. There's another part just like that in the middle-end of the song (though it's shorter), so make sure you save some star power up for that then, too.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
