I can't say I've had the same experience with weapons. I like the unlockable automatic M4 more than the 3-shot burst M16 you start with, but I still switch back to the M16 sometimes based on the map or game type. Most people use the M4 with the red eye sight, but if you aim well, the M16 takes people down faster. The M4 isn't "super-powered," it's just automatic but it does less damage than the M16 does.

Plus, c'mon. It takes like 2 hours tops to rank up to 11 and use whatever gun everyone else is using.
Guess I suck then, I think I'm level 3 or 4 after an hour. The first game I played though, I kept trying to figure out what was going on, but I was a newb so my own team was killing me. That was fun.

Someone explain the helicopter to me... Why does it show up, who's side? Etc? I asked that in 2 games, both times called name after name. I turned the game off after that.

It's really not like that, imo. Granted our beta experiences are only through level 11, but so far I haven't felt drastically underpowered compared to anything that anyone else has, at any step of the way. I really think they've done a great job at weapon balancing with this game and that was something that had everyone (myself included) very worried when they heard about the rank system. There's nothing like the COD2 shotgun, for instance....

I use the M4 with the laser sight on the Vacant and the Blackhawk down type map. The other one I use the M4 with the scope.

Before that I used the MP5 with the laser sight until I found out about the power of the M4 with laser sight.

Considering there's no friendly fire in the beta, I'd be interested in knowing how your team was killing you.

After 3 kills without dying, you can call in radar for your team. 5 kills, you can kill in an airstrike. 7 kills, you can call in the helicopter and it flies around shooting at people for a set amount of time or until someone shoots it down.

Maybe it was the other team, I kept spawning and dying over and over again. Happened 5 straight spawns, I assumed it was team killing.

So, is that per player or whole team?

EG, I think if you get a certain number of kills in a row without dying a helicopter comes in for support to help you and your team. I suck too so I don't know through personal experience, but that appears to be what is going on.

Per player, but it benefits the whole team. And it adds a kind of strategic element to the game if you're sitting at 6 kills and you're weighing your usefulness to the team as either cannon fodder, or hiding out and sniping for your 7th kill so you can call in the helicopter.

I don't think there is friendly fire in the game.

The helicopter shows up when you get a 7 kill streak without dying. You hit the right d-pad and it summons the helicopter which flies around and shoots at enemies before it is shot down, or flies away.

How fast guys are leveling up is a major turnoff to me. I'm hoping it's stunted a bit in the retail version. I played 2 matches, amassed 1 kill, and I was already level 2. I understand they want to balance the gameplay somewhat, but what's the point of a ranking system when you don't really have to achieve much to improve it?

Do the ranks from the beta stick? Are there going to be a lot of mid-ranked players when the retail game drops?

I don't mind ranking systems, as long as it's faster than RB6!

Compare it to LOTRO. Look how long it took you to get from level 1 to 2, compared with how quickly you got from level 29 to 30. I'm not really getting the fact that people are upset with the quick leveling from 1 to 11, given the fact that the game goes all the way to level 55 and beyond and it you need progressively more points to level each time.

That 5 to 7 streak usually jumps without you do anything. Once you call for the air strike that should net you 2-3 kills and bump you to helicopter support.

I kind of don't like it. I think it would be better if the air strike kills weren't apart of your streak.
