The UbiSoft guy said that sales were stagnating. That tells me that it was primarily a business decision made by the compay to tone down the challenge to Conviction so that sales would pick up for Splinter Cell games going forward. I believe the level of difficulty to get through a typical SC game would have been left unchanged in Conviction if sales were improving at a pace the company expected it to, but it appears that wasn't the case.

Anyway, I like the demo too. I don't care much for the Mark & Execute feature, but I'm not forced to use it so it's no big deal.

You've been quoted as saying the single player can be completed in 6-7 hours, are there any incentives to replay the single player portion again?

According to internal playtests we’ve done the single-player campaign is usually completed in 7 to 9 hours depending on the difficulty level you set it on. If you factor in the co-op Prologue campaign you’ll have another 5-6 hours of gameplay. There is also an extra 10 hours you can add for the Deniable Ops mode (6 maps with 4 modes each). This isn’t even counting the time you can spend once you decide to the Deniable Ops modes online (all Deniable Ops missions can be played solo except for 1v1 “Face Off”). On top of that are all the PEC challenges which can also have an impact on play time and encourage replaybility.

A good incentive to replay the game is that you will have unlocked and upgraded some or all of the weapons. You can now replay the story with your new gear (gadgets aren’t included in this because they are level specific and unlock through the storyline of the game).
Well that's disappointing. Probably only a rental for me.

The multi player in the first splinter cell was amazing. I would pay 50 bones just to get the theatre level on the 360.

Exactly. Why they thought it would be a good idea to not have MP is beyond me. Stupid decision.

They never should have changed the MP from Chaos and Pandorra when they went to Double Agent.

Double Agent was made by Ubisoft Shanghai, different developers. And it was Pandora the second splinter cell game that first included Spys vs Mercs. Which i freaking loved!

Anybody down to buy Chaos Theory on Steam and get it popping again for PC??

I don't care who made, or where VS debuted, the decision to take it out was as dumb as Chamberlain appeasing Hitler.

if ubisoft wanted to really appeal to the masses, to which i subscribe i play on normal lol. they would have changed the clunky control. i know fisher does alot of things but the control is soooooo cumbersome for an action game.

the difficulty would have been managable IMO. and this is across the board for vegas, and GRAW.

i know dudes who are masters at SF and virtua fighter who can do quater circle and 3+ button presses like they had 4 thumbs but we played the demo and their biggest complaint was man it feels like i am flying a plane.

for the vets like myself its no big deal.....

I have no idea how anyone could have a problem with the controls, the button that you need to press pops up anytime there's something to do.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I like the head to head spy vs spy stuff too, not to mention the co-op campaign. The spys vs mercs multiplayer just didn't work, it's like the game was trying to be a bunch of different things that were not splinter cell

What? What Spy vs Spy? It was always Spys vs. Mercs that was so popular.

spy vs spy is the head to head mode they officially call face off. but everyone is already nicknaming it spy vs spy. i think its more splinter cell like than the spies vs mercs

I won't believe this game is game is coming out until I have it in my hands and I'm just gleaming over the disc and instruction booklet. Too many delays for me.

It already went gold. The game is finished.
