    Re: Thought's about Collectors Edition's

people tend to blend the concept of limited editions with collector editions. Many collector editions are produced at equal numbers as the regular versions, they're just a way to squeeze some extra money with content that could easily be free.

    make of the game features?

Many of the collector editions out on today's consoles are worth exactly the same as the regular editions, as you can see by the halo 2's and Doom III's on ebay.

Oh hell than, not useful for anything than. Well, I guess you could give it to your son or a niece/nephew (assuming you have one) and get them iniated into gaming early.

it's meant to be a display piece, not worn by any human beings.

Assuming if they are actually limited and numbered, then they would be something to consider. I however think they'll churn these out non stop, since they'll be cheap to make and are for profit. The only things worth collecting are if they have a one time limited run, and are numbered so you can see how many they made.

MS did this with xboxes in Japan and they are actually worth something to collectors here in America. These halo legendary packs will be available everywhere most likely. You'll get a numbered helmet out of a run of like 50,000,000.

True, but having a Spartan Helmet is something I'd like to wear. Are those people that manufacture full suits of Spartan armor still open?

as I'm sure others do as well, however that's a niche market limited to a small amount of people. The NFL makes full size helmets available for fans to buy, but how many do?

This helmet is just nice to decorate a dorm room or accentuate a tower of consoles stacked on top of each other. In other words, it's just crap to get videogame fanatics to spend more money on a game they were going to buy anyways.

But wouldn't that bring the comparison I did earlier (Star Wars figures) into light?
Aren't the CE of games supposed to be a limited run? I do understand about the numbering, but if that was the case...then Star Wars figures (original 70's) shouldn't demand the money that they get,as those weren't numbered either.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but the comparison would seem like a fair one.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

the way I see it, collector editions are just the same game but with extra content for the hardcore fans. You see many collector's editions in every best buy you go into, making them far from limited. Limited editions are numbered and are meant to actually be worth something due to its production run.

Your star wars figure argument can be used for videogames, but only if you talk about rarity. Those figures are rare now, and probably never got reproduced. There are numerous examples of videogames being rare and making them valuable. However the more they get produced, or if they ever get another production run, the less rare they are.
