Mainly the problem I had the first time was that I wasn't sure how to expand creep without building a hatchery. I figured it out right as I was overran though. This time around I have my main base and 3 mini-bases (I always end up with more Drones, SCVs, or Probes than I really need). Just got a couple ultralisks and I think I'm about to launch my first attack (besides the random banelings I've sent out to be a nuisance). If I win I may try a little online play soon.

Edit: Finished it and dominated the CPU. Guess I'll try an online battle soon.

Did anyone else play the beta and remember seeing a button in the top right for co-op campaign. You couldn't click it, but I swear it was there.

Game is fun. I picked it up yesterday finally and got a couple of custom map games in as well as a 2v2 comp stomp for practice.

This game is a total system hog though. I have a nice rig and can run it on ultra with all settings with no lag, but something about this game just causes my rig to put out a lot of heat. My computer has a temperature display and I happened to glance down at it after about an hour or so of playing and it was 5 degrees Celsius hotter than normal. I remembered it being pretty bad in beta, but seems worse now.

This game has been frying peoples computers since the release and Blizard has acknowledged it. Do you have V-Sync turned on in the graphics section?

Ill be ready to play online 2n. Easy wins for you guys.

              Question.

I have a brand new monster of a laptop and the F1-F12 have separate functions. So I cannot use certain Hotkeys like "F1" for idle SCV because it changes my monitor to dual screen.

                    Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced

I am LOVING the matchmaking on this new B-net. In my bronze league matches I've never felt where I was totally outclassed. Everyone I've played has had an APM similar to my own (that's not the end-all be all Starcraft stat, but it is a good measure of how much experience a player has) And this last match, with showed up as an even match before it started, was 45 minutes worth of back-and-forth action, and the best and DEFINITELY most fun game I think I've played to this point.

I know you guys who are new to this find the online play intimidating, but just try to get through your placement matches win or lose, and you might be surprised how well Bnet sorts it out.

Are the placement matches part of the training league, or do you have to advance beyond that before it starts measuring your skill?

Your 5 Placement matches happen either after you skip or complete the practice league. You get 50 practice league matches at the most before you have to do placements. You can choose to skip the practice league anytime, but once you do there's no going back.

Also, placements for Head to Head and team play are different - you could end up in one league for head to head, and a different one for the team-based games.

One more thing...your league isn't set in stone after the placements, you can be promoted or demoted if you're clearly on a different level from your opponents.

I do not. Is turning it on supposed to balance out the frame rate issue?

I played around the the ATI catalyst drives a bit, and basically dropped the clock speed to the minimum it can go and dropped all the game settings to low/medium. I've also trained a personal fan on my computer to help with the cooling. Definitely overkill, but I've been burned by overheating before and I'm always scared it will happen again.

lol now that I think about it, I remember one way I compensated for the extra heat during beta was to disable one of my processors. Anyways with all of this running my external system display reads right around 30c and I haven't seen my gpu temp go above 50c yet. I haven't tested it out on a long play session yet though.

Yep, that's what some od the other people around the web I've seen having conversations have said. It should help out, but if not then you may have a bigger problem.

I tried it out and it lowered my fps by about 3, didn't really notice a difference in GPU temp though from where it was since I played with the catalyst settings. I'm okay where it's at though, honestly it's not even close to danger levels I'm just extra cautious about heat and do everything I can to keep all the components running cool.

The campaign is fun, but a little too easy. I've just been playing on the default normal difficulty though. I'll probably just finish it out on this difficulty though and then get into the MP games that made the first one so great.
