Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Gonna try a little experiment here... This is a replay of a match that candyman and I played a little while ago.
Make sure Starcraft II isn't running, and then the way this SHOULD work is that all you have to do to watch it is open the zip file and double click the replay file. You might have to either log in or select play as guest to view it - sometimes I have to and sometimes I don't. But once you do one of those two things, it should launch you straight into the replay.
Several good battles in the middle of the map, and one VERY close call in my own base (SCV's to the rescue!). It was a fun game to play and could have gone either way at one critical point.
Edit: This doesn't seem to be working for candyman...not sure why. Maybe there's still a file from the beta on my computer that''s letting me do this. Anyway, if you try it let me know if it works...Attached FilesLast edited by bcruise; 08-02-2010, 05:10 AM.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Your 5 Placement matches happen either after you skip or complete the practice league. You get 50 practice league matches at the most before you have to do placements. You can choose to skip the practice league anytime, but once you do there's no going back.
Also, placements for Head to Head and team play are different - you could end up in one league for head to head, and a different one for the team-based games.
One more thing...your league isn't set in stone after the placements, you can be promoted or demoted if you're clearly on a different level from your opponents.
It sounds like a really good system. If only I could get to the point where I feel like I'm good enough to play online at all.Impact de Montréal

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Enjoing the game although I am not much of a CPU gamer. Playing the campaign on easy to get the feel of it. Not sure if I will try online or not. Don't want to embarrass myself!
I have one guest pass I will give to someone if you are wondering if your CPU can handle the game. You can play for 7hours or 14 days whichever comes first. PM me if you would like the code.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Here is a question. In the practice matches, are you just getting anyone that wants to practice or do they try to match you up with people with similar skills? What speed are multiplayer matches played at? Fast or normal? I want to practice against the CPU, but I want to make sure I am playing at the multiplayer speed.
I am really enjoying the campaign. The story is good and the missions are varied. There hasn't been a build up your base and destroy this one and I am 10 mission or so in.Comment

Yeah, I hear you. I have done 5 practice games so far and I have gotten smoked in every game that I have played. Not sure if I will ever find a good match.

I'm not sure what speed MP is played at, but my suggestion is to always play at the fastest. It will improve your APM and if you are faster at building than your opponent chances are your will win against everyone except those who are really good at micromanaging units.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Any thought or ideas how I can turn off the macros preinstalled on my laptop F1-12?
Its really preventing me from playing online."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

How does this game fair if you are in the "Grey" area of requirements? I meet the minimum for everything, but not the recommeded.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

The game does scale very well graphics-wise, though.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Practice matches should just be against a random pool of players.

RAM 2 GB
Windows 7
Video Card is like 800+MB
That's all I really know.
I'm thinking I could squeak by maybe, but with the lowest quality.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Vid card is probably okay as long as it isn't TOO old (mine is a 512 MB card and runs it great). Would help to know exactly what the card is though (Nvidia? ATI?)
If you can find out that your processor is dual core, It'll probably run the game decently. With a single-core 2.0 Ghz processor I'd be VERY hesitant to get it.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
If you have some random, generic, prebuilt Dell, gateway, etc comp then your video is probably onboard and will not run the game (or run it poorly at best). The fact that it has 800+MB isn't really relevant, it's how good that 800 is that matter. You could have a 1GB Geforce 8400 that will not run the game very well at all or you could have an 8800 with 512 (like bcruise) and it'll run just fine. So if you could find out the exact specifications of the card, that would be helpful.Comment

Re: Starcraft II Officially Announced
Had my first online match just now in the practice league. Lost it in 45 min. I actually didn't do bad though. I held the guy off for a few attacks. I forgot one key thing I remembered reading about the colossus in its description that I literally remebered about 5 min ago which was that they can be attacked by anti-air units. I had 4 phoenix's and a void ward that were upgraded somewhat who could have pushed those stupid things back a lot earlier. Guess I'll try a practice round with the Zerg next or play the CPU with the Terran.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment
