A game that can run Crysis should be able to run SC2.

It's not a hardware issue. It's a compatibility issue with Windows 7 and I'm talking about SC1, not 2. I know I'll be able to run SC2 fine, but I'm trying to go through 1 again.

oops, misread your post. tried running it in compatibility mode? right click on the shortcut and go to "properties" then click on "compatibilities" tab, then check on "Run this program on... " then pick one and see if it works.

Yup, tried that. Tried just about everything that I could find on the internet about it. Nothing works. Guess I'll just have to skip it and go to SC2. Meh.

I checked on that site and my graphics card won't work. I just got my computer in March. And I won't be able to afford the game and the graphics card for a while. I'm so sad now.

My Macbook Pro runs it, but I am a bit jealous of you guys with the great CPUs. Are alienware cpu's worth the investment? I might try to swing one after taxes.

My Macbook Pro runs it, but I am a bit jealous of you guys with the great CPUs. Are alienware cpu's worth the investment? I might try to swing one after taxes.

Mine isn't even that impressive - it's certainly no Alienware:

Q6600 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Quad
4 GB RAM
Nvidia 8800 GT
Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

Runs this game on High settings with only a few frame drops on some of the intense campaign mode scenes. In multiplayer it's a solid 60 FPS. And that's at my monitor's native 1600x900 resolution. It would probably chug a bit if I took it up to Ultra, but High looks more than good enough for me.

Edit: FWIW I ran the System Requirements Lab on my computer and it said I met the minimum requirement but failed the recommended due to my video card. But it also showed that I was way over the VRAM requirement for the card and met all the other requirements. So, I dunno - I assume those requirements are for the game playing at Ultra, but again, High looks just fine to me.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try to run some things on high and see how it goes. Right now, I am running everything at medium, which is what it suggests.

Agreed, according to that site, I am just over mininum requirements, and mine runs great. BTW, loving this game so far...

Be very careful with that test. I got hit with antivirsolutionpro virus. Easy enough to remove, but a pain nonetheless.

I agree here. My CPU failed on the Crysis test, but I can run Crysis on Medium settings and even with some features running at high. The CPU is my bottleneck. I need to upgrade my CPU which I plan to soon, but even going to the highest C2D at 2.93 Ghz will help, but not make a world of difference. The new iCore CPU's are said to be sweet, but I'm not spending money on a new mobo, ram, and cpu at this point.
