Super Mario Galaxy is the best platformer I have played and the level design is great. It is very immersive with a large variety of puzzles and environments. I have 53 stars and just finished the disappering matter level in the garden room. This is a level where you use the spring suit near the end and you must jump fast and high or the matter under you will disappear.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
I may be talking to myself at this point, but I managed to get to 120 stars last night. The "Luigi's Purple Coins" was, by far, the hardest star in the game, I spent somewhere around 40 lives total going for it. Without giving any spoilers, I thought the 120 star reward was pretty cool, better than finding Yoshii on the roof of the castle like in Mario 64.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
Same here. I almost quit the game because of that star. The first time I got the coins, I died on the way back to the star. haha. I finally beat it, though.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
I am momentarily stuck on the Molten Galaxy Daredevil Comet star...It's the Lava run without getting hurt. I can get pretty close to the end but there's so many things that can kill you. Just have to keep at it and eventually I'll get it.
I still have to beat the game, but I'm waiting to get all the rest of the stars I can first.
I finally beat the evil star from hell...I've seriously run that star like 20-30 times at 5 mins a pop (I got to where I was damn good until the last 30 seconds of the run)
I beat the final Bowser boss, and I now have 14 more stars (I think mostly Purple coin comets, ugh), but that won't be horrible. I'm just glad I'm past the damn star that took me at least an hour and a half over 3 separate times trying.Last edited by mgoblue; 12-21-2007, 01:28 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Good luck the rest of the way, some of the purple coins are tough and some are just very time-consuming having to search every inch of the level to find them all.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
I set here for a few minutes trying to remember which one that was, I finally got it. I remember having a difficult time with it too, I didn't spend quite as long on it as you did, but it was definitely in the top 5 hardest for me, it took a while.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
Yeah...I don't know why it was that much trouble...I'd get to the part where the lava's rising (like 4 minutes into the level) and then die stupidly somehow...I kept getting better each time, and every time I died I'd scream and swear for a minute. Mario heard every insult possible lol. I think it was just a level I wasn't the best at, I haven't been stuck like that before.Comment

Oh, definitely...you're going from star to star over the fire in a panoramic view...Now that I'm not swearing at that level I can appreciate it lolNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
Purple coins are gonna take a little while...while not anywhere near as tough as some of the levels, it totally blows if you collect 90 coins and accidently screw up a jump. That's 10 minutes gone.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
There are a few purple coin stars that are plenty tough. The one on the Toy Galaxy was the hardest star in the game for me. The one on the space ship level(there were two actually, the space ship late in the game where you had to ride upside-down moving platforms) was another of the toughest stars in the game. The ghost galaxy purple coin is fun and quick so it doesn't really get frustrating, but it is very difficult as well. You're right though, the worst are the free-roaming purple coins where death = start from scratch. I like the exploration part, but it wasn't much fun when I died with <20 coins left! You will certainly have more cursing to do at the Molton Galaxy when you try that purple coin star, very tough!Comment
