I just have regular cables for my Wii, does the game look noticeably better on 480p? Is it worth getting the HD cables?
Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.

It was noticeable to me when I made the switch. It makes the picture just a little bit less "blurry" Not the difference you get with the 360 in HD rather than non HD. It really helps with stuff in the background IMO.

Rocky, if I take my Best Buy receipt back, will they give me a gift card?

Anyway, these small mini-game stages are driving me CRAZY. I'm at 13 stars now.

Finally popped this game open last night and it is an absolute blast, reminds me of why the Mario games are just a blast to play. The levels arent too easy but arent really difficult either, it seems they have found that perfect middle ground for all ages and the gameplay itself is the best Ive seen since Mario 64. The icing on the cake was when I noticed that Mario 3 was available in the virtual console, for some reason thats been my favorite Mario, well that and Mario 64 are about equal imo.

I also just played for about 45 minutes......man this game has me hooked already. Love the gravity effects. Controls are spot-on. Nice implementation of the Wii-mote but it doesn't go overboard.

Gonna go for all 120 stars!

It's amazing. I've put in an estimated 10 hours with this game already on single-player and I only have 1/6th of the game done.

This is what's amazing. You put in so much time and then realize you're not even CLOSE to being done. Amazing.

The bosses are a little to easy. I died more getting to the final fight against Bowser then I did against Bowser. I beat him on my second try.

I think a lot of the stars are far too easy to get, but that's fine because they had to make the game accessible for everybody. Mario 64 was the same way, there wasn't a whole lot of challange in beating the game(I think you needed somewhere aroud half of the total stars to beat that game, I'm guessing this is probably the same). The challange, for those who want it, is to get all 120 stars.

Exactly. It was the same for New Super Mario Bros. with the coins

Seriously...I've got a Daredevil Comet around a planet and it's pretty damn tough beating a boss with only 1 health bar (meaning 1 hit and you die)...I'm at 43 stars I think (first 4 terraces clear except for this comet I think) and it's tougher than the past comets...Definitely difficulty if you want, but you don't have to clear it all like I've been doing.

Is there a max number of lives that carry over from turning off the game to turning it on? I know for a fact I ended with 21 lives last time, but booted up with 4 (and got 5 more in a letter from Peach). I've noticed this other times, just didn't think about it that much.

Between the comet starts, the bonus levels(the ones with only one star) and each normal level's 'hidden' star, there are definitely some challanges in the game. You can breeze your way through the normal stars on the normal levels and get enough to beat the game, so I think they did as good of a job as they could in giving the long-time players more to shoot for.

As far as I remember, in all previous Mario games the number of lives you die with don't carry over, you will always start up with a default of 4 or 5.

Great game, I got it for my daughter but she does not really like it, so I play it for her.

Yeah, I've found quite a few "side" stars that aren't necessary but hard as hell...

Thanks for the life info, haven't played a Mario in years (got a GC late and didn't play Mario Sunshine).

I'm onto Mass Effect for a while, but I think I'll get in some SMG time too, it's too addicting.
