Going by that logic(which I fully agree with), NO game is a console seller. Galaxy is the most fun I've had with a single player game between the Wii and 360 thus far. If there was such a thing as a console seller, this would be it, but I still don't think paying $250 for a system and then $50 for the game is worth it just for one title.

I love the one where you actually get to break brown brick blocks(I think it was in a hidden section), brought me straight back to SMB on the NES!Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
The one star galaxies really remind me of the original games. The music + the moving/disappearing blocks is straight-old school.

Anyway, if the Wii had 3 or 4 games like Galaxy, I would pick one up tomorrow. But they have one great platformer and some really good party games. I wish they would release 3 or 4 games a year that had Galaxy's quality. Instead they'll milk Zelda, Metrio and give us 4 different Mario's next year.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
Personally, the Wii is worth having for Twilight Princess, Corruption, and Galaxy. Godfather was pretty fun on the Wii as well, even if the game itself wasn't that great.

Agreed.....Zelda, Corruption, Galaxy, Zak & Wiki and Power Pros will keep my busy for a long long time. Add Mario Kart, Okami and probably a couple of other solid titles in the near future, and I'm pretty set.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
But that's the point, what else on the Wii is worth getting. That was why I sold my Wii last year. The prices were still great on EBay.

Anyway, back on topic, I got to the ice galaxy, the skating is pretty neat, it would be better if you could skate without spinning all the time(I'm probably doing something wrong...), but it's a fun little addition. When I heard there would be skating I thought it would be in a side-galaxy like the surfing and ghost-racing.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
It's been out for a year and there are three A+ exclusive titles out in Zelda, MP: Corruption and Galaxy. I'm not sure what else you want, an adventure/RPG-lite, a FPS and a platformer, a nice variety in those three and I don't think any of the three received a single review under a 9. Smash Brothers and Mario Kart will be enough to hold me over in 2008. Would I be able to keep the Wii as my only system? Probably not, but do I regret buying it even if I've only owned a small handful of games? Absolutely not. If the lack of exclusive, must-have 3rd party games is going to be an issue then obviously you don't want the Wii, but if you want access to all of the great first party games Nintendo puts out, it's worth owning the system.

I got to the last pathway or whatever - I could see the star - and then I missed the transition from the gear to the floating block path. It sucks since there isn't a checkpoint in that stage.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
The level design really starts to take off on the last two observatories. The first two are pretty hit-or-miss with some clunkers like Space Junk and Good Egg Galaxy, but they are much better near the end of the game. I love the toy galaxy. And by rule I just don't like the desert levels in Mario games, but the desert level here was so well done with the mission design that I had to enjoy it. They also do a good job of ramping up the difficulty of the normal stars later in the game. Most of the first 5-10 galaxys the normal stars took only a few minutes, but late in the game they are much more complex, and a lot more fun.
I also like how they brought the Bee Suit back into the game a few times later, they did a great job of designing levels/missions for that. I wish I could say the same about the Ghost Suit though.... I hope the fire suit makes a comeback as well.
I've gotten the required number of stars to go take off toward the final Bowser fight(or whatever is waiting...), if I go I assume I will be able to go back and finish all of the other galaxies when I want to, can anybody confirm that?Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
I beat/finished the main portion of the game(the final Bowser fight). Really fun level leading up to Bowser, with a so-so payoff at the final fight.
I'm still about 40 stars short of 120, I just got my first red star, the flying was pretty difficult to control when trying to fly around a planet, but it was still pretty fun.
Spring Mario is pretty goofy, but pretty fun too, they did a good job designing stars for that one. Still disappointed with the Boo Suit, and I'm hoping there is more Fire Suit to come, but the spring and bee suits are both pretty fun.Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
I think I'm at 76 stars now...I can go to the final area but I'm still clearing the Engine Room. I started with the "get everything you can" method so don't want to give that up now. I may start skipping some really hard ones though, there are a few that will take a lot longer.
Question, what happens when you run out of lives? I always start out with around 4 guys, and sometimes if I'm on a hard level I come close to completely dying (but haven't yet). Are there any penalties or anything? Sometimes I just want to sit myself in a hard level and just get through it, but I worry about lives.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Super Mario Galaxy
Nothing really, if memory serves you basically have to reload the game from the last save point, so unless you arent saving very often it wont make much of a difference other then the time it takes to load the game again.Comment
