Haven't heard anything on the multiplayer in a while. I remember a while back hearing it was just some car combat mode. Did they ever say if deathmatch was in it?

Listening to Giant Bomb, iD has been very quiet about what info is released about the game. All we really get are these gameplay trailers of different areas of the game.Comment

Re: Rage (iD Software's new FPS using their Tech-5 Engine)
We know pretty much everything and there's no deathmatch.
- 15 hour single player - 20 to 25 hours with side-quests.
- Legend of the Wasteland: specifically designed co-op missions with their own story and environments (at least 8 missions have been confirmed). These can be played online or split-screen. There's no co-op through the entire game.
- The only competitive multiplayer component is Combat Rally - a vehicular combat mode. It's up to 6 players competing in a FFA, a team-based mode, or Chain Rally (multiplier doesn't start until you capture 3 points). Rally points are dynamically generated around the arenas. Hit a rally point, earn points, and start a multiplier. This multiplier boosts the score of your kills. The rally point leader will be marked, so you will have people gunning for you. You will earn XP, gain levels, and can choose upgrades such as better vehicles, better weapons, or quick-use items as you progress.
- RAGE isn't exactly a go anywhere, do anything, open-world game. It's open, but directed. You always know where to go, but along the way you're teased with points of interest around the wasteland to entice you to explore.
- RAGE is first and foremost a shooter, but it does feature some light RPG elements and vehicle combat/racing in the single player. There's an inventory system, and you can scavenge for parts to craft gadgets and ammo types. There's NPCs you can talk to and mini-games you can play in the HUB towns. You're not forced to do a lot of racing if you don't want to, but winning races will allow to upgrade your vehicle and make it more personal - weapons, engines, and cosmetics.
There's a little more, but that's a decent overview of RAGE.Last edited by Flawless; 09-30-2011, 05:44 AM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Seeing a lot of complaining from journos on twitter about the auto-save system. It doesn't seem to save constantly like with most console games and their having to replay something like 30-minute chunks when they die. There's a manual save option too, which their complaining takes them out the experience to frequently hit start and save. Not to excuse the auto-saving being the way it is, but I solely relied on manual saving most recently in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and didn't find it any less immersive in doing so. Maybe id can patch the auto-saving though.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Rage (iD Software's new FPS using their Tech-5 Engine)
I'm about 4 hours into Rage and haven't had any issues with the save system (or anything else for that matter). Of course, I always prefer to save manually because I don't want to get caught in an awkward position thanks to an ill-timed autosave...
Oh, and I'm really digging the game...it's like Fallout minus the RPG elements but with the addition of some really good racing.Comment

Autosave doesn't bother me since I usually manually save when I feel like I need to. That's how I played through Deus Ex and Dragon Age, even though both of those have plenty of autosaves.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
