Big Daddies won't hurt you unless you fire upon them. I got the balls one time to run up to one and he didn't touch me.

Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)
WOW guys! I got the game two days ago but haven't had time to play it. The girlfriend had to work tonight so it was time to be introduced to Bioshock.
While reading most of your impressions in this thread, I was pretty damn excited to start. I kept thinking to myself, "It can't be as good as they say". I played the demo, and while I was into it, it didn't seem like something that I would buy; I took a chance and hopped on the hype bandwagon and bought the game. After 4 hours, I am so happy I purchased this baby. I totally understand what you guys mean about this game. 4 hours later, I cannot get over how fluid, fun, exciting, interactive this game is. Don't forget its beautiful graphics, atmosphere, and storyline.
One thing I really love is how Surround Sound can actually help you and guide you to where the next Splicer is hiding. When they speak you can hear them in different speakers; you can tell if they are in front, behind, to the left or right of you. It's a great added value to the game.
I have yet to fight a Big Daddy... Saw one while walking but he was far away in another tunnel. If anyone is having doubts, even after playing the demo; I am telling you, the demo, even though good, does not give the game all of its justice... TRUST ME.
Its time for bed (stupid work) but you can bet that I will get more playing time this weekend. Although, I am really taking my time with everything; making sure I don't miss a thing.PS4 | jamiedallaireComment

Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)
Didn't see this posted.
We knew it was coming. Any game that features little girls as an enemy was bound to eventually draw the attention of the mainstream media. That attention has been brought by the Boston Patriot-Ledger, which argues that BioShock is "testing the limits of the ultraviolent gaming genre with a strategy that enables players to kill characters resembling young girls."
Despite the shock-inducing lead, the article goes on to give a more or less accurate description of BioShock's choice between saving and harvesting the creepy Little Sisters. 2K Boston President Ken Levine defends the artistic vision of the game, of course, while a psychology professor tells the paper that young people who play violent games "had lower feelings of empathy and stronger 'pro-violence attitudes''' whatever that means. The conclusion tries to draw a link between BioShock's violence to a stabbing death allegedly inspired by Grand Theft Auto, but the connection is pretty weak.
Regardless of any alleged real-world effects, we can't help but feel a little squeamish deciding on life and death for these poor, twisted little girls. So what's your decision? Have you been sparing your Little Sisters, or harvesting them for their sweet, sweet serum?Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.
I saw this coming but I don't see what the big deal is.
And there isn't any violence in the cut scene. Just some creepy magic.Comment

Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)
It's a fairly criticized and controversial philosophy, so some criticism of the types of moral choices presented in the game are sure to be the target of some criticism. I'm in the process of reading about it now, so don't know too much about it yet. Sounds interesting, though.
The developer, Levine, is apparently a supporter of objectivism.
This game is deep.Comment

Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)
My understanding is that Levine thinks objectivism is a good idea in theory, but people mess it up, so maybe the game is to show how people mess it up (but he still supports it)?
I've just read that on blogs, though, so I'm not sure how accurate it is. Like I said, I'm just starting to read about it now.Comment

are you going to be coming out with some sliders to increase the objectivism of the game? let me know man.Comment

BTW, I am working on a set right now that hopefully solves the Big Daddy fumbling bug. I just don't think there is a fix for the speed cheat though.Comment
