Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)

Definitely many ways to kill a big daddy. My strategy below:

For the ones that shoot a gun and throw proxy grenades at you, I set myself up with a hallway between me and the BD. Load the hallway with a few proximity mines, then hit the BD with regular grenades or heat seeking ones if i have them.

Once i'm out of those I'll use my armor piercing auto rounds, and after that he's usually pretty dead or near, so I can finish him off with a shotgun or crossbow bolt.

I do similar with the BD's that dash after you, but those involve a lot more running/keeping out of his path.

Re: Bioshock Post Release discussion (360/PC)

I am a bit disappointed that I am now finding the Big Daddies to be kinda easy. I am playing on Normal and am towards the end of the game (I am assuming).

That very first Big Daddy was absolutely brutal. I had limited resources and plasmids and he was destroying me. Since I was not using Vital Chambers, it made the battle even tougher and I had a great time trying different strategies to try and take him out. After I beat him, I was absolutely dreading having to take on another one.

But now that I am further in the game, I have so much money, and I manage my ammo very well because I always seem to have full ammo of all types (I play the game very slow and tactical, so I use very few resources in my battles), so now all of the sudden I can take down a Big Daddy with little effort. I always have plenty of grenades, mines, or heat-seeking bombs, so the BD’s go down pretty quick.

That tension and fear that I had at the beginning is no longer there for me. I miss it.

I am going to have to start handicapping myself when taking one on, like not using explosives, etc.

perhaps playing on the hard difficulty would help?

Yes, I plan on doing Hard my second playthrough, but I can't switch now because I'll null some of my potential achievements.

Yeah, unfortunately it will. Otherwise, I'd be there!

I thought it was the other way around - if you go from hard to normal you'll affect achievements. Which achievements are affected by the switch from Normal to Hard - just curious.

It's taking me so long to finish this game - I never want to leave any nook or cranny left unturned - I also find myself going through every room in a level before finishing my initial goals so that I can hack all the turrets and security cameras.

When i buy the full game will I have to go thru the stuff I already went thru in the demo?

Also are you guys saying if i switch from normal to easy level, then back to normal that i won't ever be able to get achievements until i restart the game?

I plan to play on normal but if i get stuck i want to be able to switch to easy, get past whatever i'm stuck on, then go back to normal (only in dire circumstances of course)...but i wonder if doing this will wipe out my chance to get achievements..

Only difference really is a plasmid, but it's essentially the same

I think that's how the achievements work but believe me... i'm playing on hard and haven't had the need to put the game on normal to get past certain parts... it should be the same feeling for "normal" players wanting to go back to "easy".

ok cool, well i'm not terrible at games, my thing is patience, i get stuck and i am like "argh..i want past, i'm sick of this".....whereas like my roommates used to love getting stuck, they'd strategize and work for hours on the same part of the game to get by it.......whereas I just don't like replaying parts of the game again and again and again.

Makes me kind of believe i'll be one of those people who would enjoy using the resurrect thyself but the enemies are still severely damaged thingie I heard some others here complaining was in the game (and to avoid save and never use them).

The BD's are still pretty easy on hard, in fact a few splicers are harder than a BD on hard.

I exclusively carry enrage, hit a splicer if near a BD, let them sort it out, then send a few more at him if possible. Then I come in nice and neat and finish off the weakened BD.

I'm [finally] at the end of the game and I'm finding it terribly hard to hear all the radio messages. I've spent close to an hour just re-listening to them since I'm usually in a chaotic firefight when they pop up.
