I'd say from my experience their is very little lag(I haven't experienced any). You can get some good games going for hours on in. Sony has 130 dedicated servers for the game and players can use their PS3 as a dedicated server hosting matches based on their connection. The game holds up very well, I was in a clan vs. clan match today for 4 hours rotating playing different types of games and maps. The developers are interacting with its community and constantly fielding questions about stability and balance they are compiling a list and will offer future updates for stability and they say they will post polls for DLC for things the Wowhawk community wants.Comment

I'll buy it tomorrow...hopefully a standalone copy isn't hard to come by (I need the headset).

1st and foremost, do you have your BT headset registered? if not go to accessories and register your headset
2nd after registering your headset go to accessories and set your audio output/input device to your headset,
3rd once online, press L3 to talk also, you can see who talking in the upper left hand corner. You can also mute people in the filter setting.Comment

Got it and played it for about 3 hours last night.
If you like the Battlefield series, I am pretty certain you will like this. This is Battlefield with more weapons and no 'roles'. There are no medics, but there are health pick-ups scattered in places on the map.
The weapons that I have seen (which are mapped to the digital pad for quick switching, you can carry as many as you want and switch at will):
Pistol, Automatic Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Flamethrower, Landmines (which will stick to walls so the trigger faces sideways), Rocket Launcher (can home in when locked), Binoculaurs (that call in an air strike), Knife, and I think one more I am forgetting.
You can be successful in this game so many different ways. Some people take to the skies (the planes are A LOT faster in this game than BF, and have a 'hover' mode as well that allows you to set for more accurate shooting but leaves you very vunerable to missle locks). Aerial vehicles have pick ups in the skies such as Swarm Missles, Chaffes, and Health.
Game modes, as already stated, are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, and Zones (which is true BF and the only mode I played last night).
All in all, I can really see this having legs as there is no game of it's type on PS3 yet, and I don't see a big 'online' game coming out for PS3 soon. It may lose some steam around here (as most games do) but playing with randoms (as in most BF games) isn't extremely bad.
Oh yeah, true to get into one of the SCEA hosted rooms if you can. User hosted rooms can be ended by the host at any time, and normally don't last more than 20 minutes. SCEA hosted servers are constant, and very nice to play in.Comment

I love it. The planes feel like plans. The hover version of the planes feel like helicopters. The tanks feel great and move easy. It's Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat Mod for the PS3 basically. (I played DC for about 18 months straight, day in and day out). That game never, ever got old. I'd still play it today if my PC could handle it, and the clan I played with was still around.
This game has that same feeling, you could sit down and play all night long basically.
And Mil is right, hit the SCEA servers, you're golden.Comment
