Is this a fun drinking game to play? I.e. a game in which you can just go and do whatever and have fun?

haha...well actually there are quite a few games which require too much linearity and/or precision which are terrible drinking games. The best drinking video games IMO are ones like Grand Theft Auto where you can just be free and wild or else a sports game where you are familiar with the controls and can just tear it up.

finally picked this up, and I'm loving it. The game is part Assassins Creed, Part Uncharted, and part GTA. Very addictive and fun!

Much like GTA, you just free roam and do what you want. You pick and choose when you want to do missions. I like to venture into the unpowered sections sometimes (not too far in as its dangerous) just to kick some Reaper ***.

I won't be able to play until Wednesday. Going away for a few days. Will suffer some withdrawals lol.

Man, this game is friggen AWESOME! I was hesitant for the last couple months, as I thought Prototype was a much cooler looking game, so I figured i'd just save my money for that. Plus, I thought electricity would be a fairly lame power. I was very, very wrong on both fronts. I'm so glad I read the comments in this thread, as I went out and picked this up the other night, and can no stop playing it. SO much to do, and time just flies when i'm playing. After unlocking the ability to glide across any conducting line, this game gets ridiculous, as it takes hardly any time at all to reach your destination. However, a lot of the time, I find myself just taking my time cruising the city, as I feel like i'll miss a bunch of blast shards should I go too fast.

Another great thing about this game is how sidetracked you can get. Every time I head off to do a story mission, I wind up doing the 'yellow' missions to clean up the city and restore order. They are usually a blast, and while sometimes repetitive, they are still fun.

Oh, and F conduits! Nothing worse than getting one in your sights, only to have him teleport behind you and tear the ground from beneath your feet.

Also, what are the snipers that everyone is talking about? Is it just the reapers that are stationed on rooftops? I don't seem to have any problems with them, as usually they are easily avoided, or can be taken down with one shot of lightning, as it usually blows them off of the rooftops. Just curious.

I may be alone in this, but I currently have two game going on which I equally pace. One where I'm the hero, and the other where I'm the hero. Both are fun, and it's great to see the versatility the game brings to the table. Thus far I like being the anti hero. Oddly, I find that he's more powerful and destructive, and I like being destructive. Good Cole "looks" better though.

Plus, the powers you gain along with the upgrades are a bit different depending on your karma. There is one power that only a good Cole can perform and one power only an evil Cole can perform. The stunts are easier to pull off if you are good due to some of the good powers (mainly reverse magnetism with shockwave).
All his powers work differently depending on whether or not you're good or evil.

Once you move on to the 2nd district, is there anyway to get back to the 1st? There were some shards I missed that I want to pick up but can't figure out how to get back there.

My only complaint about the game is that there is way too much dependency on the easily spammable 'primary' power (the R1 one).

Well, finally beat this bad boy. The last battle was a lengthy one...but fun. Now that good is completed...it's time to try evil!!

I fail to see your point. That lightning strike is Cole's primary attack, much like the pistol in Drake, or other games. It's dependency is perfectly done when playing as good actually, because many of the other powers create too much destruction. Plus, its a great tool for setting up an enemy... round the corner, pop him, one, run in closer and kick his ***.
