      • Fiesta (Mythic Map Pack added but not required)

      7 on the 7th
Avalanche (for the last time, I promise)

      Footnote
When you see a hopper with Mythic appearing as “not required,” expect that to mean that Mythic will be required the following month. For Double EXP weekends, this means that the next time they are used, they will require the Mythic Map Pack.

Team Mythic isn't going anywhere in April. You'll still be able to play all Mythic, all the time under its tweaked title, Mythic DLC, for the remainder of the month. From May onward, we'll be looking to integrate the Mythic maps into Matchmaking in a more permanent sense as noted above, with more and more Playlists soon requiring the Mythic Map Pack.

        Re: Halo 3 Impressions

Heretic - Midship remake screen leaked.

Seems that the rumor list of new maps from awhile back is coming true. Heretic, Longshore, and Citadel are coming with ODST. Longshore sounds awesome.

Assembly: small to mid-size map. Bowl shaped covenant scarab factory - you've seen it.

Heretic: Midship remake. The ONLY - and literally ONLY - difference any of us could find (we tested all the jumps) was that jump pad on top, where you can jump up and get the sword, it was bouncy whenever you jumped or threw grenades on it in H2. It wasn't bouncy in Heretic. Everything else was faithful. Programmed into the map is BR/plasma nade starts. The sky box when you look out the windows is AMAZING - it is a view of quite a few Covenant carriers and ships coming into possibly our Solar system, and you are looking out from the belly of another ship. There is one that is really close to you and you can see amazing detail on the ship. There is a planet nearby too.

Orbital: I played 8v8 on this map, and it was WAY too many people. But it was a lot of corridor shooting. I never got a chance to explore this map (this was the only game I played on this map). It was obvious it was some sort of orbiting platform around earth - most likely a MAC cannon. There were quite a few computer screens on top of every entryway. Very neat.

Longshore: Wow. Easily my favorite map of all of them. This is a BTB map, and it is along the docks of OLD Mombasa (confirmed by Lars). There are even little maroon dinghies with small engines at a part of the map (I poked fun and said "I guess they never changed the design of small boat engines in 500 years, the employees got a laugh out of that). When you look out to the water, you see 2 LARGE carrier ships off in the distance, with pelicans and longswords and a couple other planes of some sort. It is AMAZING. There is a 2 story building on one side (base 1) with the roof also being accessible, and another 2 two-story buildings on the other side (Base 2). A center structure (kind of like a warehouse/boat storage facility) separates the two bases, and there is up at the WAY top of this structure an extendable bridge that drops on the roof of base 1. Lots of other buildings/crates/places to hide. One side of the map is all ocean, the other side is blocked by a large building that is part of the boat warehouse middle structure. This fish picture/drawing that was being handed out at PAX was a billboard on this map.

Citadel: I played this map with Lars. This map was LARGELY inspired by the level "The Covenant" when you were inside of the Forerunner structures, right after the battle with the Hunters who were below the elevator platform. When you have to go around and up an angled jump to battle a few brutes and buggers to get to the platform, that part is almost exactly in the map! It was really cool and was a good close quarters map. Two overshields spawn, and there is a central location with a small structure in the middle with Rockets on top. There are a lot of things hidden in here, very cool map.

And Sandbox they didn't let us play (none of us have any idea why?) and said nothing about it either.

                Bungie: Mythic Community Content Spotlight

                Mythic Favorites

For those frothing over the chance to finally get their fingers and thumbs on the Mythic Map Pack specifically for Forging, we’re throwing in two Map Variants that should make the process a little bit easier to begin with.

The first is SkyBubblePrep” prepared lovingly by Ascendant Justice scribe Vociferous, and the second is “Crypt Stacked” whipped up by our very own FoMan123. Both of these Map Variants are designed to help you squeeze every last drop of Forge goodness out of the objects available in Sandbox’s high and low spaces. These are the canvases you should use when you build in The Sky Bubble and The Crypt, respectively.

The other three Map Variants we're putting on display look less like empty canvases and more like finished works of art.

Flying Dutchman – Along with its companion Game Variant (also found in Bungie Favorites), Pirates, Flying Dutchman is an expertly crafted, eerily suspended Pirate Ship ready for some kickass Zombie action. Wanna be the Last Man Standing on top of an awesome crow's nest? Download this maritime map and make it happen.

Excavation - An amazingly faithful recreation of Halo 2’s Foundation (an amazingly faithful recreation of the Thunderdome maps of Marathon lineage). Excavation should bring back some memories no matter when you came on board. Queue it up for download and throw down old school.

Pivotal – Suspended high above the empty dunes of Sandbox, Pivotal provides a play space for symmetrical or asymmetrical games alike. Offering two clearly lit opposing bases and a central structure, you can fire this up for some Team Slayer or Team Objective Play. Just make sure you keep your bearings and your feet on solid ground.
And since Flying Dutchman is the only map that comes with its very own companion Game Variant, we’re going to slap in some of MLG’s newest Game Variants (v6) so you can download them and practice up before we inject them into Matchmaking in the coming weeks.
                More Mythic Map Pack Content

If this sampler platter has you hungry for more custom content, it’s easy enough to find. We’ve already got quite the collection going. You guys work fast.

Check out all the Mythic Map Pack on its fancy new Project Page. From here you can watch the trailer, check out some more Screenshots, and if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you’ll find links that’ll whisk you away into our collection of content, where you can customize your search to dig up whatever you like.

The Mythic Map Pack drops into Matchmaking tomorrow. Hopefully, this round of Bungie Favorites will give you an early preview of all the awesome content to come. When you finally get your hands on the Mythic Map Pack, make sure to download this new content and give it a spin. More to come.

Got the maps last night, played a few in the mythic playlist. Team Br's on Orbital was fun, had some interesing battles. I played swat on a underground variant of sandbox that was awesome. I also played swat on orbital and the default sandbox setup. Didn't get to play a game on Assembly.

                    Re: Halo 3 Impressions

Played a few matches. I really like Assembly. It's like a mixture of Midship and Warlock. Orbital seems like a good map. It's a little confusing and reminds me of Elongation. Also, one of the better looking maps in Halo 3. Only played on the default layout of Sandbox, which worked well for neutral bomb. There's 6 variants of Sandbox besides the default layout, so I'm looking forward to playing those. Hopefully, it really does get the spotlight Foundry didn't.

I was listening to latest Bungie podcast, and they said the plan is to try and integrate the Mythic maps into matchmaking at a faster rate than Legendary. Didn't won't to say aggressively, but they definitely won't to make sure players are getting their monies worth.

I hope so on the integration into matchmaking. I feel like I still haven't gotten my money's worth for legendary and they've been out about a year.

I got to play a ton of game on Assembly today, its awesome. Great map. I would say immediatly one of the best maps in the game for 4v4 slayer and multi flag. The Tundra variat of Sandbox is great. I really like this map pack, I think its the best one so far.

Interesting video. It looks like Halo 2 was going to have saved films, file share, and something like forge. I guess a long with the cinematic in the video these things were cut due to time constraints. Candyman you make an appearance in the video too.

It's no secret that the future of Halo rests with Microsoft and the internal Halo team they have been putting together, and this maybe is a little insight into the future.

I love that they can keep track of stats like these.

                          Campaign Kill Count: 10,000,000,000

For those in the same camp we count ourselves in, folks baffled by talk of billions, let's take a look at the tally from a more down-to-Earth perspective. Crude math places the estimate of daily Halo 3 Covenant kills, launch-to-date, at over 17,500,000. That's 730,000 killed per hour or 12,000 Covenant troops killed per minute.
We're glad we've got you by our side, soldier. You're worth the weight of a hundred Covenant scum. Actually, the per player average puts the count right at 650 kills per player. Mighty fine work.

                          Here's to ten billion more.

                                Render-to-Video Public Viewable

As mentioned in the Bungie Blog earlier in the week, all of the Film Clips rendered out by our Render-to-Video beta participants are now available for public viewing. If you're reading this, "public" means you. Though you still can't cue up your own cuts for The Contraption to chew up and spit out as rendered video unless you have beta access, you can at least get a good look at what will be on offer when the beta process ends and the service becomes live. We're still targeting July and still holding strong to the caveat that we may alter the deal at any time.

This week Roger and our online team have been busy dropping additional minutes into the mix in order to test out both the Standard and High Definition flavors of the Render-to-Video service. So far, so good. If you've been out of the loop and can't seem to figure out how to access any of the rendered video clips, we'll make it super easy on you.

Click on the link below to be transported into the entire collection. You can sort by date, rating, number of downloads, or relevance. Just make sure you have a good amount of time on your hands - there's a pretty giant collection already, and it's easy to get lost in all the amazing videos.
