I've taken down 3 police helicopters,blew up 4 police cars,killed at least 20 cops and a doctor but I'm not even out of the tutorial yet....add 2 police boats to that. No lack of action here.

Anyway the pre-order/SE "bonuses" are just in-game cheats you dial up on your phone like the rest of them.

Picked it up at Circuit City and recieved a $10 gift card and a special code to unlock a helicopter. Unfortunately I've got a football game to go to this evening. It'll be tonight before I can really get into the game.

Well, I played through the first mission - pretty fun. Some impressions.

The player creator is a lot more thorough than in the first game. I made myself an evil, geriatric Michelle Pfeiffer look alike with a five o'clock shadow. Her mouth is small with her teeth sticking out so she almost looks like a chipmunk.

Maybe I'm seeing things, but my player model (the main character) looks more detailed. You can set taunts and happy expressions in the player creator. You can access these by pressing left or right on the d-pad, respectively. I think there are about 10 each of these. Right after the first mission, I went up to a dock worker and flipped him off, then he started to fight with me.

Melee combat is different. You can pick up anything and bash anyone with it or throw objects at people. When you sprint, the camera swivels and slightly shakes to give you the feeling of running. You get bonus points (not sure how these are used yet) for performing drifts and avoiding oncoming cars when driving. The camera goes cinematic when jumping with a vehicle. It harkens me back to GTA 3 when the elevation and distances of vehicular feats were displayed in big print - I think it did back then.

All in all, this one feels good and its a lot of fun.

yea i picked it up friday. Played a handful of story missions, maybe about 5. Played a good amount of the side activities. Some are the same, but there are a lot of new side activities such as the one where you spray **** (poop) from a truck to cause a certain amount of damage.

Another one you act as a bodyguard for a celebrity of some sort and u have to keep the crazy fans (some with bats and other weapons) away from him.

Also played some coop over the weekend. Only experienced lag/slowdown in one instance for about 10 seconds. Other than that its been very smooth.

Just got the game too. It has a install that takes about 10 minutes. I don not mind if it doesnt have the freezing problem SR1 had.

Created my guy, and made it through the tutorial "mission" which was pretty fun. I then ran around the docks beating the crap out of pimps til I had a few run at me with wooden barrels. Went to try and steal a truck, and the guy had pepper spray!

Had to quit there, but will definately get back to the game tonight.

I was doing the fuzz activity.
An actual cop joined in,she got in the car with me. When we got to the last thing with a guy that was littering she picked him up and threw him into the middle of the street. I finished him off with the night stick.

The sword is awesome,love the finishing moves.

it is good so far i havent gotten real deep into it yet but i have noticed you have to do a lot more to earn respect to keep doing missions, i used to just jack up other gangs but that seems to earn respect real slow in SR2 compared to the first one

if anyone has the ability, take some screenshots of your created character and post it in this thread. I can only imagine the stuff are fellow OS'ers will come up with. I made a guy who looks like Christopher Walken but weighs 300 pounds or so.

I don't know how to take screenshots with my new capture device, but I posted videos of two characters I've created. Probably should have posted some higher res ones.

Geez, is this game a blast or what?

I played for about 2-3 hours total tonight and only about 4-5 percent done. I've done a few episodes of Fuzz (think COPS) which were hilarious. Played bodyguard for a few "celebs" who needed protection. Just to name a few.

The story is good, but theres just so much other stuff to do. My only concern is, the game froze up on me once during an activity. Other than that, nothing to complain about.

There's a story mode?

I've still only done the first story 2 missions (break out of prison,save Johnny) and have been playing all day. Didn't help that I got lost in those caves,not sure how I got in,not sure how I got out and then lost in the airport trying to find the clothes store,couldn't get out of there either but found a hidden way that led to a CD and then again in the science museum.

I'll post my character if it supports the 2.5 PS3 update. I forgot to DL the update for this game.

Anyone find any weapon finishers other than the sword? I mean hand to hand not the other finisher though those are pretty cool too.

MMA fights - or what they "think" it is.. just went 2 levels into the fights before I quit..

Sweet game -- had a nice Lambo stolen before I flipped it.
